Have you ever been driving and your eyes felt so heavy that you could hardly keep them open? A few years ago, this happened to me, and I did fall asleep at the wheel.
I was reflecting on this story this morning and thought I would share it with you today.
Rewind back to over 12 years ago – It was the middle of the day, and I was just about home, when an extreme sleepiness hit, and my eyes were so heavy…
Before I knew it I must have fallen asleep because the next thing I knew, I was suddenly awakened by a burst of wind on my neck. It jolted me and I woke up. I was still on the road somehow.
The interesting thing was, no windows were down, the air conditioning was not on.
Where did this burst of wind come from that jolted me awake and made my hair stand on end?
Surprisingly, I didn’t think too much of it at the time, other than being thankful to be awakened, but today more than ever I am realizing the faithfulness of God in His promise of heavenly protection that was with me that day.
The Lord was faithful in protecting me, even when I was in such a dark place in my life, angry at every living thing, and I was running from Him. I didn’t think I deserved His help, nor did I really want it, but the Lord loved me, and He had a plan for my life. Even though I was in a dark place, I was still His child. He planned to bring me through all of the mess, to bring me out of hiding and into the light.
He’s so good.
“For He shall give His angels charge over you,
To keep you in all your ways.
In their hands they shall bear you up…”
Psalm 91:11-12

Blessed assurance! Many years ago, I was driving through the night toward Boone from Morgantown, WV, on I-81. After about 4 hours, I woke up near Abingdon, going up an exit ramp! I quickly pulled into the gas station nearest the top of the ramp, put the car in park, and immediately opened the car door and got out. I was chauffeuring three friends who had wanted to sleep while I drove, but they were happy to drive at this point. We were lucky, and I have always been amazed and grateful that Someone took the wheel.

Christ Jesus TOOK the WHEEL as the song goes and saved me from a head on colision! Thank Him for His Mercy and Wonderful Grace which causes His warring angels to guard over us ! His purpises and plans WILL BE FULLFILLED AS HE HAS PROMISED!!!
