9.5.18 – Dread

I woke up this morning ready to fight “dread”. Right as I woke up I could feel that I was in that moment of saying “yes” or “no” to it.

Have you ever felt like that? Right when you wake up you start to feel like you dread something or thing you have to do that day?

I used to just go with whatever I felt and let it take me into my day, but I’ve learned this…

dread

1. anticipate with great apprehension or fear.

2. great fear or apprehension.

3. greatly feared; dreadful.

Hmmm… that’s sneaky.

Why would I want to anticipate something bad when I can instead expect and anticipate and declare that it is going to be a good day? Our words have power, they can bring life or they can bring death, they can bring on a good day, or bring on a bad day. Isn’t that amazing?

So today when I felt that dread trying to make me feel dreadful of this day, I decided to say “no” to that, and right away I asked the Lord to help me to change my mindset about today, not to dread it, but to instead be excited about what is possible with the Lord (and that’s ALL things 🙂 Isn’t that something to be excited about? Definitely not something to dread.

Dread is another way fear tries to tempt us into believing the lie that the day will not go well, and that we have something to fear within it, and then we agree with it, claim it and then what happens? We end up in a bad day.

So I declare that today is a good day! Why? Because the Lord made it, and because it’s a gift. He has good things for us. I will be thankful for this day, not dreadful of it. I will not agree with fear today.
