I really didn’t intend on this becoming an almost every day post kind of thing.
This morning I was drawn to Psalm 78:1-2 where it says,
“Incline your ears to the words of my mouth.
I will open my mouth in a parable;
I will utter dark sayings of old.”
The first thing that caught my attention was “dark sayings of old” – what is this, exactly?
I looked in the details at the bottom of the page and “dark sayings” in Hebrew means “chiydoth” which means “mysteries” or “riddles” (read more in Numbers 12:8)
The Lord is saying that He is speaking to us, and He wants to share with us… mysteries. The things on His heart. Wow.
Just like it is with us, it takes time and attention to get to know one another. It’s like an unfolding, and then as this happens, we begin to learn the deeper things about each other as we press in and spend time in each other’s presence.
It’s like that with the Lord! He is drawing US to Himself, He is speaking words to us (and has been all along) and He longs to share the mysteries of His heart with us.
Isn’t that amazing. Thank you for showing this to me today, Lord! I am amazed that even I am included in this, that You want to speak mysteries even to me.
