10.2.18 – The Almond Tree

“Moreover the word of the Lord came to me, saying,

‘Jeremiah, what do you see?’

And I said, ‘I see a branch of an almond tree.’

Then the Lord said to me,

‘You have seen well, for I am ready to perform my word.”

-Jeremiah 1:11-12

The almond tree means, “wakeful tree”, it’s the first to bloom in Israel. It represents awakening, hastening, fruitfulness –His promises being fulfilled. It’s a symbol of resurrection.

Lately I’ve been thinking about almond trees again. I remembered Jeremiah 1:11-12 yesterday morning and that passage was actually on my heart for a lot of 2017. It was also around that time that I decided that my favorite season is Spring, not Fall (okay, Fall is almost my favorite still 🙂

I think there is still much to be discovered, the Lord is bringing it up to me again – perhaps to study a little more in depth. Maybe He’s going to show me more.
