As I was sitting here this morning something sank in…
We get to see little tiny glimpses of who God is, qualities of His character…through one another.
Isn’t that amazing?
I mean, at the same time, we can’t stretch our minds wide enough to comprehend who He is. There aren’t words or thoughts or imaginations vast enough to understand the mystery and depth of who He is. I mean, have you ever tried to think of the omnipotence of God and then your brain starts doing summer-salts? Yep. Tried it. Ha!
“And one called to another and said: “Holy, holy, holy is the LORD of hosts; the whole earth is full of his glory!” –Isaiah 6:3
But at the same time because He lives in and through us, when we allow Him to shine through, we get to see the tiniest little pieces of His character, the beautiful qualities of who He is… experiencing and encountering Him through one another.
That’s huge!
“Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, so now, not only as in my presence but much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure.” –Philippians 2:12-13
How important is it that we make way to allow Him to work through us? And how important that we get our issues and hang-ups and hindrances out of the way so that He can uniquely use us for His purpose here on earth?
“But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me.” –2 Corinthians 12:9
“Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.” –1 John 4:7-8
When we allow God to live and shine through us, then we get to create this completely unique thing with Him —
me + Him = opportunity for a completely unique encounter. When we allow Him to, He can use each of us in such a unique and powerful way here on earth. Wow.
“Am I a God near at hand?” says the LORD, “And not a God afar off? Can anyone hide himself in secret places, so I shall not see him?” says the LORD; “Do I not fill heaven and earth?” says the LORD.” — Jeremiah 23:23-24
I don’t know if any of what I’ve attempted to write makes sense, but as I was sitting here this morning I saw pictures of this in my head, different people I’ve known throughout my life who allow the Lord to shine through them and how who they are, the things they do out of love, out of whoever they are + who God is– how these experiences are truly ways we can also experience a small glimpse of the character of God. He lives within us and when He lives within us, His ways, His character becomes woven into who we are, we become a vessel, and then it is released into the earth –into others.
“And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God.” –Revelation 21:3
I don’t know where all of this came from, I didn’t know I was going to write about this today, in fact I was going to write about something different and when I sat down to type, well… then I saw all of these people and situations — from a simple hug to a huge revelation, to experiencing the love of God as a Father, to seeing His tender lovingkindness –when I’ve experienced something God wanted me to experience of Himself through these people throughout my life, and it was just eye opening for me this morning. A good reminder to myself to get my hindrances out of the way so that I can be the person He has created me to be… a person who can reflect Him.
