11.4.18 – He fights for me…

“Do not be afraid of them; the LORD your God himself will fight for you.” Deut. 3:22

As I was doing some reading this morning, I came to this phrase and something about it just hit me and shook me up…

“He fights for me.”

He fights for me! He has fought for me and He fights for me!

“For the LORD your God is the one who goes with you to fight for you against your enemies to give you victory.” Deut. 20:4

But look at that… “goes with you to fight…for you”

As much as I don’t like the thought of “battle”, we have a responsibility to step up and step into battle.

But when we do, the Lord says that He goes before us, He will go with us, and fight for us. We just have to trust Him and do our part. We can know that we’ve already won.

You know the book, “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe”? I’ve been thinking about it this morning, which is completely out of the blue.

Well, the movie of that book always make me want to weep. Not cry, but weep. I have to brace myself when I see Aslan the Lion because I get choked up. Something about this great lion moves me on a ridiculous level. Something about his magnificence, his goodness, his incredible authority and strength — but most of all his gentleness and tenderness. And when Susan and Lucy walk with him and talk with him, wow. Chills.

“I want a hero lion warrior friend like that in my life!”, is what the child in me is thinking as I watch the movie (Ok, yes, I just typed that and yes it does sound completely ridiculous. I have tried to type it up differently where it doesn’t sound so strange, but you know what, it is what it is.)

But I do have this “lion” in my life! –it’s Jesus Christ who walks with me, it’s Jesus who is my hero, my Lord, a gentle savior and friend, and a magnificent warrior King. HE walks with me, and HE teaches me, and HE fights with me and for me.
