I’ve come to a place of more stretching.
Oh Lord, how much is it going to take?
Have you been at that place where you can feel you are at the edge of having to go through more stretching? There’s this something inside that wants to turn back and hide, to get outta here, and there’s another part that has this drive to keep going, a reminder that there’s no turning back now.
It’s kind of like I’m at this place in the path where I have to reach out to the Lord, He’s ahead of me and I am reaching and stretching my arm to grab hold of Him in order to cross this tricky place in the path. I could keep reaching and stretching my arm toward His outstretched arm, ready to pull me forward, or I could stop and say, “It’s too hard, Lord, I can’t. What am I even doing here?” And turn back or try my own way around it.
Can I be real here? I can be real here. I wouldn’t be honest with you if I didn’t admit that I’m being pulled by both right now.
I don’t like it, and I’ve been talking with the Lord about it this morning.
I love that no matter what we face, what we’re going through, what’s affecting us, we can take the situation and say,
“God, here’s my stuff… what is this? Why is this happening in me? Can you help me with this? I want to keep taking Your way no matter what, help me in facing this obstacle because I am so weak…I want to take Your way and not break. I don’t know if I can do this, Lord. It’s all so beyond me.”
Lord, I need Your strength to keep going, because I am weak.
I need to be able to see from Your perspective to be able to see clearly.
I need to be closer with You than ever before to be able to walk through this…
So I just looked up the word “stretch” just for, you know, just because…
Here are some of the things it means,
-be made or be capable of being made longer or wider without tearing or breaking.
-cause to do this.
-make great demands on the capacity or resources of.
-cause (someone) to make maximum use of their talents or abilities.
-adapt or extend the scope of (something) in a way that exceeds a reasonable or acceptable limit.
-straighten or extend one’s body or a part of one’s body to its full length, typically so as to tighten one’s muscles or in order to reach something.
-extend or spread over an area or period of time.
Okay, Lord…. I get it. I understand why You love us enough to nudge us into a stretching process sometimes.
Because if we didn’t learn to “be made to or be capable of” stretching, if we didn’t learn to “reeeeaaaaccchh” then we’d surely break.
