“Feeling gratitude and not expressing it is like wrapping a present and not giving it.” -William Arthur Ward
I spent some time this morning just processing the last few days.
I’ve never celebrated so much Christmas in my life, and I feel like this year has been the first year that I’ve been able to begin understanding what the “season” of Christmas is all about.
In addition to being a reminder of what our Father did for us when He sent His son, it’s about being a reminder of the way we should live each and every day.
It’s funny because this has been the first year Jason and I have not had our own Christmas tree (although we did do lights for the first time), so you would think this year would seem a little less like “Christmas” to us. It was the complete opposite.
There is this sense of an overwhelming fullness of gratitude, almost a sort of “extravagance of goodness” that I am barely able to process or accept.
So, here are a few gratitude quotes that might help…
“No one is as capable of gratitude as one who has emerged from the kingdom of night.” –Elie Wiesel
“We can only be said to be alive in those moments when our hearts are conscious of our treasures.” – Thornton Wilder
“There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle.” –Albert Einstein
“Nothing purchased can come close to the renewed sense of gratitude for having family and friends.”
–Courtland Milloy
“Joy is a heart full and a mind purified by gratitude.” –Marietta McCarty
“Think with great gratitude of those who have lighted the flame within us.” –Albert Schweitzer
“There are friends, there is family, and then there are friends that become family.” –Unknown
“Love overflows and joy never ends in a home that is blessed with family and friends.” –unknown
“Gratitude is the memory of the heart.” –Jean Baptiste Massieu
“You can’t go back and change the beginning, but you can start where you are and change the ending.” –C.S. Lewis
