12.29.18 – Walking a Treasure Map

This morning I feel so much excitement about what the Lord is going to do.

I don’t even know exactly and specifically what it is, other than what we know in His Word, of course, the big picture–but I know that there is so much, even within the mystery that is worthy to be excited about.

There are two things I’ve been zeroing in on this morning, and that is the word,

Redemption

And Psalm 25:14,

“There’s a private place reserved for the lovers of God,
    where they
sit near Him and receive
    the revelation-secrets of His promises.
” (TPT)

I love these versions as well…

“The secret of the LORD is for those who fear Him, And He will make them know His covenant.” (New American Standard Bible)

The English Standard Version says,

“The friendship of the LORD is for those who fear Him…”

The New Living Translation says,

“The LORD is a friend to those who fear Him. He teaches them His covenant.”

The Good News Translation says,

“The LORD is the friend of those who obey Him and He affirms His covenant with them.”

The International Standard Version says,

“The intimate counsel of the LORD is for those who fear Him so they may know His covenant.”

There is such a tenderness to this verse, a sweetness… how the Lord longs for us to sit with Him so that He can share His secrets with us, “revelation-secrets of His promises.”

His friendship is there for us! He is not a cold, far-away God who is sitting there feeling nothing as we go through the struggles and challenges of life. Jesus understands our pain far more than we do. But when we sit close with Him, talk with Him, He will begin to share with us, the secrets of His heart –how He feels about me, how He feels about you. Then we can begin to understand a glimpse of “why” we are experiencing the things we experience in life.

We can begin to understand that there is purpose, there is redemption there for us.

Intimacy and closeness with the Lord helps me to gain understanding of what that redemption means for my life.

This intimate counsel of the Lord helps us to know what His promises are for us, that we may walk in those promises, that we may live those promises.

What does “redemption” mean?

Redemption:

-the action of saving or being saved from sin, error, or evil.

-a thing that saves someone from error or evil.

-the action of regaining or gaining possession of something in exchange for payment, or clearing of debt.

-a clearing, fulfillment, honoring.

the deliverance of Christians from sin and freedom from captivity.

Jesus paid it all, He completed this thing –so that we can be redeemed.

I am learning that the Lord doesn’t hide from us… He is more like a treasure, waiting to be found by us when we sit with Him, when we seek His counsel in the secret place.

He longs to speak to us, He longs to speak encouragement to us in that secret place, that we may know who we are, that we may discover who He has created us to be so that we can walk in His purpose.

Why do I feel so compelled to write about the things the Lord is doing in my daily life?

I don’t know, but I do know that I want to continue in this journey of finding closeness with the Lord to see where it leads. I feel like I am walking a treasure map, except in this kind of “treasure map” I am finding treasures along the way, as I go, as I get to know Him, and I am also experiencing this urgency to keep going, to keep moving forward to see where this journey with the Lord will take me.

He has set me free of so much already, I am excited to discover where He is taking me and how He will be glorified in my journey.
