3.14.19 – The Journey of Discovering Truth

Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” – John 8:32

I was sitting and thinking the other day, thinking about the Lord, thinking about His Word, thinking about truth…

And I realized how excited I am about “truth” –how thankful I am for truth.

The discovery of truth, the uncovering of truth, the realization of truth, the revelation of truth, the victory of the truth, the power of truth, the understanding of truth, the relief of seeing truth, the challenges with seeing truth, the timing in receiving the revelation of truth, the way of truth, the freedom in knowing truth, and the journey to the discovery of the truth.

Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place…” -Ephesians 6:14

When I was a kid, Indiana Jones was my hero. Even though the movies were a little intense and scary for a young kid (well, for a kid like me who too spooked to even watch E.T. ha!) I absolutely loved the adventures of discovering and uncovering the truth. To find the treasures, not necessarily for the “treasure” but to uncover what is true –which is the real “treasure” anyway.

Don’t you love discovering the truth? Isn’t there such a relief when you know you have found what is true?

And yet, sometimes the truth is hard, isn’t it? For so long, I believe I feared the truth. But there has always been a part of me that, in spite of the fears I’ve experienced over the years, I am driven to know the truth.

And I am learning that the discovery of the truth is best in the right time. His time.

“For nothing is concealed that won’t be revealed, and nothing hidden that won’t be made known and brought to light.” – Luke 8:17

Our God is a God of all truth. Jesus is the truth. He is the purest, most real truth.

He knows that certain truths have to be realized and discovered within the right timing, within our journey, within our story. Not necessarily all at one time. He has this way of giving us certain revelations of truth – but in His timing. He does this “something” with all of that, He has this way, and this way that He does things, the timing He uses, it does something more than we can really understand right now.

“The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us. We have seen His glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.” -John 1:14

This is the ultimate truth… a truth that the enemy wants so badly for us not to see.

“Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” – John 14:6
“But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on His own; He will speak only what He hears, and He will tell you what is yet to come.” – John 16:13

“And we know that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding, so that we may know Him who is true; and we are in Him who is true, in His Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life.” – 1 John 5:20

I am so thankful that Jesus is a Light, a truth that shines brightly in the darkness so that we can see it. That Light, that truth has been revealed to us, that we may see and know the truth of who He is.

Oh how I love this promise…

The LORD is near to all who call on Him, to all who call on Him in truth.” – Psalm 145:18

This is true…

“Call to Me and I will answer you, and I will tell you great and mighty things, which you do not know.” – Jeremiah 33:3

This is my prayer, and I pray it in agreement with the Word, which is His will for us…

“Guide me in Your truth and teach me, for You are God my Savior, and my hope is in You all day long.” – Psalm 25:5
