There are mornings when I feel alive and ready for whatever the day may bring.
And there are mornings when I have this feeling of, “…oh no, I don’t want to deal with this today…is this thing really trying to get at me again?” …like I can almost feel something trying to get at me, and I feel almost a sense of weariness trying to work its way in, a sense of “I really don’t feel like dealing with this today.”
You know what? It’s to be expected in this life, right?
The important thing is that I take it all to my Father. The important thing is that I sit down with Him when I’m feeling this way and say, “Father, here’s what’s going on today within me. I don’t like it. Will You help me in dealing with it? Will You draw me close, as I come and sit with You this morning?”
And we already know what the answer will be, don’t we? ?
“I’m already on it.”, He says. ?
What is an “overcomer”? What does it mean to “overcome”?
Overcome:
-to succeed in dealing with (a problem or difficulty).
-to get the better of, prevail over, control, get control of, get/bring under control, bridle, tame, master, gain mastery over, deal with, conquer, defeat, vanquish, beat, solve, triumph over, best, worst, overpower, defeat, beat, conquer, gain a victory over, win
The important thing the Lord is reminding me of today is that He has made us “overcomers”. He has made us “more than conquerors” — wouldn’t it make sense that the enemy would try his hardest to make us feel like we’re not? Wouldn’t it make sense that the enemy would try to come at me with a sense of weariness.
I could choose to dwell on things, wonder why I always have to struggle through things that seem so easy for most people——-
It’s an illusion.
I know the truth.
Thank you, Father. ?☀️
“Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love Him.” – James 1:12
So you know what? I’m going to go through this day knowing that truth. I know what the Lord has promised me. I know who He has made me to be. I am an “overcomer”.
And now, I’ve got things to do today –no time for any kind of dwelling on the wrong things. ?
God has good plans for me. There’s no time to devote to anything else. There’s no time to run from the things I don’t feel like dealing with. The quickest way to deal, after taking it to my Father, is to face it head on. And I’m all about efficiency these days.
Romans 8:37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.
1 John 4:4 You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the One who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.
1 Corinthians 15:57 But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
