“O LORD, You have searched me and known me.” – Psalm 139:1
*Note to self: Ohhhh how do I even write about this?*
This morning as I was waking up and making coffee, I found my mind wandering into things that really aren’t any of my business.
Things that have nothing to do with me. Things I could very easily judge or dwell on, and no one would ever know. Although, if I went that route, I’m sure it would come out eventually.
“And see if there be any hurtful way in me, And lead me in the everlasting way.” – Psalm 139:24
As I noticed this and realized what this was doing within me, where this was quickly heading –I knew the Lord was showing me something that I needed to face within myself, something I needed to quickly deal with before it went any further.
Why? Because anything like that causes destruction. Destruction within myself, destruction in my relationships with others, and destruction in my relationship with my heavenly Father.
When I am thinking on stuff like that, my thoughts are not on Him, my thoughts are not in alignment with the way He thinks. He knows this way of thinking is a dangerous road to set foot on.
But He shows us these things because He loves us, and knows what is best for us. He knows and sees when things try and take root within us, and He loves us enough to show us so that we can cast those things down and renew our minds with His truth. A fresh perspective –one of love, and compassion, and kindness.
“Instead, let the Spirit renew your thoughts and attitudes.” – Ephesians 4:23
I kept wanting to write about something–anything other than this today, but I kept coming back to this because I love the way the Lord searches my heart. I can trust Him in that searching process, I can be vulnerable and honest with Him. Nothing is hidden from Him, He sees everything, and yet His abundant love for me never changes.
“I, the LORD, search the heart, I test the mind…” – Jeremiah 17:10
I am so thankful for the way the Lord lovingly teaches us, the way He guides us, the way He searches our hearts, and the way He gives us the opportunity to hear Him, to take heed to the moment of conviction quickly, and with a fresh perspective– His perspective –turn it around and get the day going on the right foot.
“There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus” -Romans 8:1
Thank you, Father! Thank you that we can come to You, we can trust You with matters of the heart. We can trust You with our hearts.
“Search me, O God, and know my heart…” – Psalm 139:23
