“So now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love.” – 1 Corinthians 13:13
I was sitting here this morning, sharing my heart with the Lord, asking Him to take care of all the many things that I can do absolutely nothing about…
Then I asked Him, what He would like me to write about today.
“The power of My love.”
I kind of stopped and was taken aback…
“Lord? Um… that’s big. How am I going to write about that? Me? I don’t think I’m qualified.”
“Just write about what you know.”
Okay, Lord. ?
He has this way about Him, doesn’t He?
What is it about Him, this beautiful way of His?
He has this beautiful way of reaching us –this way of working in our hearts…
He has this way of showing us who He is in such a way that it will completely break us down, purify us, heal us, and then put us all back together into who He always knew we would be. Into who we never thought we could be.
Because of His love.
“The Lord your God is in your midst, a mighty One who will save; He will rejoice over you with gladness; He will quiet you by His love; He will exult over you with loud singing.” – Zephaniah 3:17
Nothing can compare to the power of His love. Nothing can “do a work” like His love can.
His love heals, it soothes, it forgives, it restores, it transforms, it redeems —
“Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends. As for prophecies, they will pass away; as for tongues, they will cease; as for knowledge, it will pass away.” – 1 Corinthians 13:4-8
It’s His love that reaches us.
It’s that love that holds us.
It’s that love that encourages us.
It’s that love that carries us.
It’s that love that gives us hope.
It’s that love that restores us.
It’s that love that challenges us and leads us.
It’s that love that brings us back to what is pure, and reminds us of what is true.
All is taken care of, all is paid for. All because of His great love.
That is powerful.
“See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are. The reason why the world does not know us is that it did not know him.” – 1 John 3:1
And then, we begin that journey where He teaches us how to love…
What an incredible honor that is.
“We love because he first loved us.” – 1 John 4:19
“Let all that you do be done in love.” – 1 Corinthians 16:14
His love is the answer, it’s the remedy, it’s the solution.
“No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.” – Romans 8:37-39
Pure and simplified. It’s the foundation.
“So that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith—that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.” – Ephesians 3:17-19
His love is the “secret password” to the heart. It is the “secret weapon” against the darkness. It’s the “secret ingredient” in the recipe that God has revealed and freely given to the world. ☺️?
“But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven. For he makes his sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. For if you love those who love you, what reward do you have? Do not even the tax collectors do the same? And if you greet only your brothers, what more are you doing than others? Do not even the Gentiles do the same? You therefore must be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect.” – Matthew 5:44-48
God is love.
“Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God. Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love.” – 1 John 4:7-8
…and love came down…
“But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved…” -Ephesians 2:4-5
“Finally, brothers, rejoice. Aim for restoration, comfort one another, agree with one another, live in peace; and the God of love and peace will be with you.” – 2 Corinthians 13:11
Oh Lord, thank you for Your love. Thank You for who You are. Thank you for reaching us with Your love. Thank you for changing us with Your pure and simple, profound and powerful love. Teach us how to love like You do.
