“And without faith living within us it would be impossible to please God. For we come to God in faith knowing that he is real and that he rewards the faith of those who give all their passion and strength into seeking him.” – Hebrews 11:6
I’ve been thinking on this promise this morning.
The promise that when we seek the Lord, when we come to Him, believing in Him, believing in who He is, and what He will do —that He will reward that faith.
Sometimes the reward of faith doesn’t come in the timing we would hope for. Often it doesn’t.
But thankfully God doesn’t work within the boundaries of our time. He’s bigger than that. I’m thankful that He isn’t limited by time. I’m thankful that He uses it, that He works with it –but He’s not limited by it.
When God makes a promise, He will keep it. It’s only a matter of time.
I can rest knowing that the time it takes to get to that promise is for good, for benefit, for my growth, and for the Kingdom. It’s doing something. He’s doing something.
I think of a bowl of stew that sits cooking in a slow cooker…
When we put all of the ingredients together, in that moment it wouldn’t make sense to eat it right away. It wouldn’t taste very good, we probably couldn’t even chew it. haha!
But over time it sits and cooks, and prepares. It often takes all day or all night — quite a while to wait for a meal.
But then when it’s ready, it’s perfect. It was well worth the wait.
If we would have eaten it before it was finished cooking, it wouldn’t have tasted very good, could have even made us sick.
But in the right timing, it was perfect.
God’s got our backs, no matter how the circumstances may seem in the moment. Our faith pleases Him.
He’s cooking up something good. ☺️
Thank you, Lord. I trust You.
