5.13.19 – In my Inadequacy, He is Adequate.

And then there are days….

Days that feel like I’ve been hit by the enemy in every possible vulnerable place all at once.

I can see enough now to understand and to realize that the attempted plan is to shut me down. The goal of the enemy is to cause me to pick myself apart. To run and hide. To pull myself away. To go back to my corner. To be confused about my identity.

The battle in the mind can be just as hard as a physical battle.

So on those days, in those moments, in this time of processing, I will choose to dwell on who my Heavenly Father says I am because I know what He says stands as truth when I’m in the middle of what seems like “uncertainty”, and when my mind is under attack. I will run to Him.

This is what I asked Him this morning.

“Heavenly Father, will You tell me who I am?”

I think He’s always waiting for us to come to Him about things like this. He’s always ready to remind us of how much He adores and cherishes us in a very unique way.

Here are some verses He led me to…

“And I will be a Father to you, And you shall be sons and daughters to Me,” Says the Lord Almighty.” – 2 Corinthians 6:18

“Not that we are adequate in ourselves to consider anything as coming from ourselves, but our adequacy is from God.” – 2 Corinthians 3:5

“See how much the Father has loved us! His love is so great that we are called God’s children—and so, in fact, we are.” – 1 John 3:1

He delights in me, He sings joyfully over me.

“The Lord your God is with you;

his power gives you victory.

The Lord will take delight in you,

and in his love he will give you new life.

He will sing and be joyful over you,” – Zephaniah 3:17

He welcomes me to always run to Him. His arms are already open.

“But Jesus said, “Let the children alone, and do not hinder them from coming to Me; for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” – Matthew 19:14

He takes notice of the unnoticed and insignificant, the unlikely and the unqualified.

“So don’t be afraid, little flock. For it gives your Father great happiness to give you the Kingdom.” – Luke 12:32

He takes great pleasure in each and every one of His children. We warm His heart.

“But He takes pleasure in those who honor Him,

in those who trust in His constant love.” – Psalm 147:11

This psalm is full of reminders…

Psalm 56

“Be merciful to me, O God,

because I am under attack;

my enemies persecute me all the time.

2All day long my opponents attack me.

There are so many who fight against me.

3When I am afraid, O Lord Almighty,

I put my trust in you.

4I trust in God and am not afraid;

I praise him for what he has promised.

What can a mere human being do to me?

5My enemies make trouble for me all day long;

they are always thinking up some way to hurt me!

6They gather in hiding places

and watch everything I do,

hoping to kill me.

7Punish them, O God, for their evil;

defeat those people in your anger!

8You know how troubled I am;

you have kept a record of my tears.

Aren’t they listed in your book?

9The day I call to you,

my enemies will be turned back.

I know this: God is on my side—

10the Lord, whose promises I praise.

11In him I trust, and I will not be afraid.

What can a mere human being do to me?

12O God, I will offer you what I have promised;

I will give you my offering of thanksgiving,

13because you have rescued me from death

and kept me from defeat.

And so I walk in the presence of God,

in the light that shines on the living.”

Thank you, Father. When I run to You, You dust me off, hold up Your mirror, remind me of the way You see me, remind me that I am uniquely made. You show me who I am. I am not a victim. You have made me victorious! You remind me that I am wonderfully made. Then You fill me back up and send me on my way. Thank you, Father.
