“So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” – Romans 10:17
If faith comes by reading and hearing God’s Word…
Wouldn’t it make “sense” that it could be a struggle to fill ourselves with a large enough daily dose of the Word? Wouldn’t it make sense that so often we are distracted from simply soaking up the Word of God? There’s such an attempt to get us away from the powerful, living, breathing Word of God.
As we fill our minds with the Word of God we are changed in our thinking.
As we fill our mouths with the Word of God we are empowered in our speaking.
As we fill our entire beings with the Word of God we are transformed and ignited.
It’s like eating vegetables. As we fill ourselves with good and healthy things, as we absorb those nutrients our bodies are changed –we receive health, we receive energy, we receive strength.
Faith comes by reading and hearing the Word of God.
“And whatever you ask in prayer, you will receive, if you have faith.” – Matthew 21:22
How valuable faith is! How powerful faith is. We need more faith, don’t we?
The Lord has been teaching me about faith in an intensified way lately.
The apostles said to the Lord, “Increase our faith!” – Luke 17:5
His Word tells us who we are. As we read what He says about us, we can begin to see who we truly are made to be. As we begin to truly see who we are in Him, we begin to live empowered. We begin living like we truly believe what His Word says. Faith increases as we believe and proclaim and walk in what His Word says.
“But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.” -1 Peter 2:9
“I will be a Father to you, and you will be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty.” -2 Corinthians 6:18
How do we react when we truly believe and understand that we are royal sons and daughters? We act differently, don’t we? We know that we can approach our Heavenly Father anytime about anything. He is never too busy for us, we are never “too” anything for Him. When we truly believe this, in faith, by believing His Word, then we will never hold back from approaching Him, in the best of times and in the worst of times.
I came to this beautiful passage in the Word this morning, and I love the Passion Translation…
“As the princess bride enters the palace,
how glorious she appears within the holy chamber,
robed with a wedding dress embroidered with pure gold!
Lovely and stunning she leads the procession with all her bridesmaids
as they come before you, her Bridegroom King.
What a grand, majestic entrance!
A joyful, glad procession as they enter the palace gates!” – Psalm 45:13-15
