8.19.19 – Trembling at His Word

You know, sometimes I hear the clearest from the Lord when I’m at home in the quiet, washing dishes…

I’ll often find myself talking with Him about all kinds of stuff — could be anything.

A couple of days ago I was washing dishes, having a heart-to-heart with the Lord about something that had been troubling my heart. I asked the Lord,

“Father, what do I do? How do I handle this?”

and I heard so quickly, and so clearly,

“Let Me do the work in the heart. You do the loving.”

I instantly felt something inside of my spirit just tug at me, a “shaking up” within me, a deep sense of knowing, an “awe” an “amazement” that the Lord was speaking to me. It just never ceases to amaze me when I get to hear Him speak. What a precious thing to get to have these conversations with Him… wow. To realize that He wants it this way. ?

Then at the North Georgia Revival last night, during the prayer time before the service I asked the Lord, “Lord, what would You like me to pray into? What is on Your heart?” and I heard from Him so clearly as I found myself broken open before Him…

He led me to Psalm 40, specifically in verse 8 where it says…

“…I delight to do Your will, O my God, and Your law is within my heart.” (Psalm 40:8)

The New Living Translation reads like this, “I take joy in doing your will, my God, for your instructions are written on my heart.”

Then I asked Him, what should I pray? And I heard,

“My will be done”

“I want My people to want to do the will of My heart.”

So I found myself praying,

“Lord, Your will be done! Help us to delight in doing Your will, for this pleases Your heart!” and I went to the Lord’s Prayer in Matthew where it says,

“Thy Kingdom Come, Thy will be done…”

But in these moments, as I was hearing this, it shook me so deeply to realize that He was speaking His heart to me. (And then He even showed me how this tied into what He was truly wanting to do in the service that night, just blowing me away as He’s teaching me how to pray in this way, from His heart…)

It’s a big deal, you know… that the Creator of the Universe would speak to you and me. That He would share what’s on His heart. ??

Help me never to take this lightly.

…and I never want to “pick and choose” the things I want to hear, and the things I that make me want to honestly sort of avoid or “plug my ears” to. I have been guilty of this.

Your will be done, Father! Transform our hearts so that we will gain the capacity to delight in doing Your will, that we may “delight” in doing Your will, because we love You, because we trust You, and we know it’s pleasing to Your heart, Father.

Forgive me Lord, when You speak to me and I decide I don’t want to hear those things. Forgive me for the times I’ve attempted to “tune out” what I don’t want to hear. Every word from You is precious and true, and what an amazing blessing that we get to hear You speaking to us.

May we tremble at Your Word. May we delight in doing Your will.

“For My hand made all these things, Thus all these things came into being,” declares the LORD “But to this one I will look, To him who is humble and contrite of spirit, and who trembles at My word.” – Isaiah 66:2
