8.26.19 – The Arms of the Father

I spent some time just reflecting and writing about the last couple of days this morning…

And then I asked the Lord,

“Lord, what is on Your heart today? What would You like me to write about?”

I heard an answer…

“the arms of the Father”

I asked Him,

“What do You do with Your arms, Father? Teach me more about them…”

And then I dug into the Word and found so much about Him in there that I’ve really never studied before in this way.

His arms…

“uphold”

“The LORD will uphold him even on his sickbed; you will transform his bed of illness into health.” – Psalm 41:3

“shelter”

“The eternal God is your dwelling place, and underneath are the everlasting arms. And he thrust out the enemy before you and said, ‘Destroy.’” – Deuteronomy 33:27

“protect and shield”

His massive arms are wrapped around you, protecting you.
You can run under his covering of majesty and hide.
His arms of faithfulness are a shield keeping you from harm.” – Psalm 91:4 TPT

“The LORD has bared His holy arm In the sight of all the nations, That all the ends of the earth may see The salvation of our God.” – Isaiah 52:10

Uphold me that I may be safe, That I may have regard for Your statutes continually.” – Psalm 119:117

comfort

As a mother comforts her child,
    so will I comfort you;
and you will be comforted over Jerusalem.” – Isaiah 66:13

“do a mighty work”, “power

“‘Ah, Lord God! It is you who have made the heavens and the earth by your great power and by your outstretched arm! Nothing is too hard for you. . . . You brought your people Israel out of the land of Egypt with signs and wonders, with a strong hand and outstretched arm, and with great terror.” – Jeremiah 32:17, 21

strengthen

“With whom My hand will be established; My arm also will strengthen him.” – Psalm 89:21

carry

“Even to your old age I will be the same, And even to your graying years I will bear you! I have done it, and I will carry you; And I will bear you and I will deliver you.” – Isaiah 46:4

“And the LORD brought us out of Egypt with a mighty hand and an outstretched arm and with great terror and with signs and wonders;” – Deuteronomy 26:8

deliver

“Who caused His glorious arm to go at the right hand of Moses, Who divided the waters before them to make for Himself an everlasting name” – Isaiah 63:12

“Say, therefore, to the sons of Israel, ‘I am the LORD, and I will bring you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians, and I will deliver you from their bondage I will also redeem you with an outstretched arm and with great judgments.” – Exodus 6:6

“draw us to Himself”

“But you’ll welcome us with open arms
when we run for cover to you.” – Psalm 5:11-12

“And He took them in His arms and began blessing them, laying His hands on them.” – Mark 10:16

“Our Master Jesus has his arms wide open for you.” – 1 Corinthians 16:23

And then this…?
“Who has believed our message and to whom has the arm of the LORD been revealed?” – Isaiah 53:1

As I come to the verses about Jesus “doing the work” in the gospels, I find myself zeroing in on how Jesus set an example for us in doing His work on the earth…

So…. I still have much to study and understand here. ??

Thank you, Lord! What a treasure You are! I love learning more about Your character, and discovering new things in Your Word that paint a picture of You, and that teach me how to be more like Jesus. I’m thankful for the way that You teach me and lead me.
