This morning, as I was writing some things down in my journal, it was like the Lord suddenly “jolted” me – interrupting me with a most beautiful thought –He stopped me right in the middle of what I was writing about…. stopped me to give me this beautiful and simple truth. It made me burst into tears, as I could almost feel the “depth” of this truth, I could understand it and see it in my own life, and I knew it was the Lord.
Here is what I heard…
“He always knows what our hearts really need, and He’s always working to get us there.”
How He has shown me this in my own life! Things I never thought I would have needed, He knew I needed. He knows where my heart needs mending, and He’s working on that, in me, as I seek Him.
I went to the Word to compare to what I heard…
“He who fashions the hearts of them all, He who understands all their works.” – Psalm 33:15
“Would not God find this out? For He knows the secrets of the heart.” – Psalm 44:21
“Lord, you have seen what is in my heart. You know all about me. You know when I sit down and when I rise up; You understand my thought from afar. You scrutinize my path and my lying down, And are intimately acquainted with all my ways. Even before there is a word on my tongue, Behold, O LORD, You know it all...” – Psalm 139
“And Jesus knowing their thoughts said, “Why are you thinking evil in your hearts?” – Matthew 9:4
“…for whenever our heart condemns us, God is greater than our heart, and He knows everything.” – 1 John 3:20
“The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately sick; who can understand it?” – Jeremiah 17:9
“Who can understand it?” – He does. He understands it. He knows it through and through. He knows our weak places. He knows where the heart needs healing. He sees where our hearts are maybe confused. We have no clue what we really need… but He does. He always does.
Exodus 3:7-9 says, “The Lord said, I have surely seen the affliction of My people who are in Egypt, and have given heed to their cry because of their taskmasters, for I am aware of their sufferings. So I have come down to deliver them from the power of the Egyptians, and to bring them up from that land to a good and spacious land, to a land flowing with milk and honey…”
I am realizing that just like anything else, our hearts must be fully submitted to Him so that He can do the transformation work that only He can do. So that He can do the healing work in our hearts that only He can do. He can see the things in our hearts that hinder us, that hold us back, and He’s doing something about those things, if we let Him, if we trust Him and let go of what we think we need. He’s the one, true “Heart Specialist” around here. All we know is what He reveals to us.
“You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart.” – Jeremiah 29:13
“Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me.” – Psalm 51:10
“I have stored up your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you.” – Psalm 119:11
“And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” – Philippians 4:7
“And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.” – Romans 5:5
Thank You, Father, for always knowing every thing about us, and loving us just the same. You know exactly what our hearts need, and You are ready to do the work, if we just let You do what only You can do. If we just let go. ?
