This morning the Lord has me studying the word, “whole”…
I love digging into words that I’m already familiar with, words I already know and understand. I’m always surprised at the things I discover –the new ways to understand the word more deeply.
What does it mean to be “whole?”
full, complete, uncut, undivided, unbroken, one, unified, unimpaired, undamaged, unharmed, unhurt, untouched, uninjured, flawless, unmarked, perfect, pristine
Being “whole” means to be a…
unit, body, ensemble, package, all, everything, every part.
It means to be…
“sound in body”
“without restriction”
“not wounded”
“not divided”
“not disjoined”
I love The Message version of 1 Thessalonians 5:23-24,
“May God himself, the God who makes everything holy and whole, make you holy and whole, put you together—spirit, soul, and body—and keep you fit for the coming of our Master, Jesus Christ. The One who called you is completely dependable. If he said it, he’ll do it!”
This verse so encourages me today,
“And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns.” – Philippians 1:6
Thank You, Lord. You make things “whole”, that is what You do and it is what You have done. You have made me “whole” and You are making me “whole” and You will continue this work You do in me, and in us– until the work is finally finished. You have said it, and You will do it! Thank You for the encouragement today, Lord!
