11.7.19 – Radiance

Since last night, I’ve been thinking of the word, “radiance” or to “radiate” light.

Honestly I’ve been thinking about “light” for a while. (Wait –what am I saying, as a photographer I ALWAYS think about light. ha ?)

But this morning I am thinking about God’s Light, Jesus, the Light of the World, His glory in the earth, His Light that shines from within us.

The Light that “radiates.”

I was reading the Word this morning, and I came to a place in my bible where I had a note to the side that says, “Light is given!” –it was right beside of Isaiah 60. ☀️

I stopped in my tracks and soaked it in. I absorbed these words –such a familiar passage and yet I felt like I was reading with fresh eyes. For some reason this passage felt especially significant for today.

Ariseshine;
For your light has come!
And the glory of the Lord is risen upon you.
For behold, the darkness shall cover the earth,
And deep darkness the people;
But the Lord will arise over you,
And His glory will be seen upon you.
The Gentiles shall come to your light,

And kings to the brightness of your rising.

Lift up your eyes all around, and see:
They all gather together, they come to you;
Your sons shall come from afar,
And your daughters shall be nursed at your side.
Then you shall see and become radiant,
And your heart shall swell with joy…”

Isaiah 60:1-5

The word “radiate” means, “light or heat as emitted or reflected by something.”

I looked it up in the thesaurus and here are some other words for “radiance”…

“light, shining, brightness, brilliance, luminosity, beams, rays, illumination, blaze, glow, gleam, luster, glitter, sparkle, flash, dazzle, shimmer, glare”

But “radiance” can also be defined as, “great happiness, apparent in someone’s expression or bearing” or in other words,

“joy, delight, happiness, euphoria, pleasure, elation, splendor…”

I love Your Word, Lord. Thank You for leading me here today. Thank You for Your Light that radiates all around us, a light that leads us, that uplifts us, that encourages us, and radiates from within us.
