11.15.19 – “God, who am I?”

I’m going to let you in on part of a conversation I had with the Lord this morning. Usually I don’t feel led to sharing such specifics, but this morning I felt it was what I was supposed to write about.

So I asked the Lord a question this morning…

I don’t know why I didn’t think to just come right out and ask Him this before.

I had a dream a while back and I was reminded of it again because of some things that happened in real life. I began to wonder why I had that dream in the first place. What was the purpose for giving me that dream? What am I to learn from this, God? What are You showing me? What am I to do with this, God?

And I always ask Him and wait upon Him to show me the interpretation of a dream as I first jot it down, but many times I don’t understand the “why” or any kind of connection immediately. I’ve noticed that He usually brings a dream to my attention later when some of the things in my dreams remind me of some of the things happening in the natural –either within me or around me, it causes me take note, to dig in again, to seek further…

Well, this morning I wondered, “God, what’s happening? Why is this happening? What are You doing? What do I need to take from this?”

And so I just came out and asked Him,

“God, why did You give me this dream?”

Here is what I heard as I was still writing down my question…

“Because I am showing you who you are.” (Honest Side Note: this only added to the mystery, yet it compels me to seek Him further…)

And then He reminded me…

“Your identity comes from Me. For I crafted and created you –no one knows you better than Me. Seek Me for questions that You have about who you are…”

So I went to the Word…because I knew what I heard is already in the Word…

For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well.” – Psalm 139:13-14

Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed. And in Your book they all were written, the days fashioned for me, when as yet there were none of them. How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God! How great is the sum of them!” -Psalm 139:16-17

“For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.” – Ephesians 2:10

“But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.” – 1 Peter 2:9

“These things God has revealed to us through the Spirit. For the Spirit searches everything, even the depths of God.” – 1 Corinthians 2:10

“And to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.” – Ephesians 4:24

“For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.” – Colossians 3:3

“Do you not know that you are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in you?” – 1 Corinthians 3:16

“Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.” – 1 Corinthians 6:19-20

Let the wise hear and increase in learning, and the one who understands obtain guidance…” – Proverbs 1:5

“Then the mystery was revealed to Daniel in a vision of the night. Then Daniel blessed the God of heaven.” – Daniel 2:19

“The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but the things that are revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may do all the words of this law.” – Deuteronomy 29:29

He reveals deep and hidden things; he knows what is in the darkness, and the light dwells with him.” – Daniel 5:22

And again…. I am reminded of a question that I know is on the heart of so many people in the world…

“Who am I?????”

People are desperate to discover who they are and why they are here.

Identity and purpose.

We are searching, searching, searching to discover who we are. We long to know that there is someone who “gets us” and understands us. How easy is it to look everywhere possible…except for going straight to the One who knows us the best, the One who made us who we are. I can come to the very One who created me… I can seek Him. Sometimes it takes time, most times there are no “quick answers” but He longs to show us things as we become ready to know them, and it comes simply by reading His Word, while waiting upon Him to reveal these deep things to us, and then life begins to unfold in the most beautiful way. ☀️

God longs to tell you all about who you are, in fact it’s already written right there in His Word. It’s already there, ready to be soaked in, and allllll of that Word that is soaked in will mesh with alllll of who you already are inside…. and God will begin to reveal and unfold things that have been hidden…..

“Who am I? Why am I here?”

He loves when we come to Him to ask…

“God…… who am I? God….. why am I here?

“God, what have You put in me? Will You reveal to me the deep things You have created in me? Help me to understand Your purpose for my life…”

I believe when we come to Him with questions like that, it pleases His heart so much. Because we are running to the One who took the time to create us, very precisely and specifically…. and wouldn’t you think He would want His child to know who they are? To know exactly what they were created to do?

Life can be such a mystery, but it’s funny how God begins to unfold things in a way that can only be “God” ??☀️He teaches us about who we are in the Secret Place.

Thank You, Father. ?Thank You for reminding me to always, always come running to You.
