11.19.19 – “Bring it to the Light”

Have you ever felt troubled in your heart?

Have you ever known the truth, and yet you’ve become so distracted by this thing that you know is a lie…. an illusion? An illusion that seems very real.

Sometimes a lie can be mixed with some “truth” or some “physical reality” and it can make it even more of a challenge to push through.

I was sitting here this morning, and immediately some thoughts came to my mind – thoughts that I wish would just leave me alone…. but you know, the mind is a battleground.

I became annoyed, and I just laid my head down and rested on the pages of my bible for a moment while I began to sit with the Lord –and actually I just felt what I felt, but I intentionally “felt it” before the Lord, knowing that He is right there, He is with me, and He understands what I’m trying to communicate to Him.

Suddenly I heard this…

“Bring it to the Light”

…And I knew that’s exactly what was happening in that moment.

I was taking all of this “stuff” and I was taking it all before the Lord, taking all of the lies into His light, knowing….. that any lie, any trouble, any hindrance, any sin, any issue…… these things wouldn’t stand a chance when they are brought into His light.

A light that obliterates the illusion of the lies, and allows us to see His truth.

“Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.” – Psalm 119:105

The light of His Word keeps us on track. Keeps us in check. Helps us to see through the lies, and into the truth.

When we bring all of our “stuff” to His light, the One who illuminates all the things in our hearts, we’ll be able to see that all of that stuff is nothing in comparison to what is really real and what is true.

As He reveals the truth in His light, as we can begin to see….we’ll see through the illusions and schemes, and we will begin to see things as they truly are, seeing from His heavenly perspective…

That’s what His Word does. It’s a light that not only shows us the way for our lives, but it shows us the way around in our own hearts and minds.

I came to this passage this morning, actually I opened right up to it, and I had these verses underlined…

Why are you cast down, O my soul?
And why are you disquieted within me?
Hope in God, for I shall yet praise Him
For the help of His countenance.

O my God, my soul is cast down within me;
Therefore I will remember You from the land of the Jordan,
And from the heights of Hermon,
From the Hill Mizar.” – Psalm 42:5-6

David is speaking to all the “stuff” going on in his heart, “Why are you this way, soul? Why are you acting this way? Because I know the truth, and the truth is my hope is in my God! Do you remember what He has done??” and He runs to God, “Oh my God! Help me, I’m bringing this stuff to You – my soul is cast down within me…”

David says in verse 11,

Why are you cast down, O my soul,
and why are you in turmoil within me?
Hope in God; for I shall again praise him,
    my salvation and my God.”

David is bringing his heart into the loving, revealing, light of God….. and the Lord has shown him the way through this turmoil in his heart.

He’s saying, “I know this is not right, I know this is not the way to think, it’s not the way to feel….hope in the Lord, soul! …. I will Praise Him, He is my salvation!”

He knows that by doing this, by bringing it to light, by not allowing it to remain hidden within his heart, he knows all of that stuff won’t stand a chance in the light of God.

Do you see how the Lord has shown him how to navigate through these issues in his heart? David remembers the Lord, he remembers what God has done for him, he remembers the truth of God’s word, and he praises God because he remembers and sees the truth…. that God is his hope and salvation.

When we remind our hearts of what God has done, and the truth of His Word, we can remember and see the truth…..and then all of the things that are trying to create an illusion within our hearts don’t stand a chance…

I love how God does that. Isn’t it amazing how His light does that?

Thank you, Father. ?☀️You teach me to see Your truth in Your light. Thank You. You are my hope and my salvation, I will praise You, “…my enemy does not triumph over me, as for me, You uphold me in my integrity, and set me before Your face forever.” (Psalm 41:11)
