Can you believe it’s December?
When I woke up and looked over at my phone this morning, I saw the “1” on the calendar… and it hit me that November is behind us, and a new month has begun.
Something about today feels like a fresh, new start.✨
As I was sitting here this morning, I first had a dream to get down on paper, and as I was close to finishing that up, I paused on writing down my dream and began thinking about this day… I spoke a prayer that was on my heart, and then I asked Him to show me what He wants me to pray today….
I started back to writing down my dream, when suddenly I was interrupted and heard,
“He prepares the way.”
I knew that was what I was to pray, He was showing me.
“Lord, thank You for preparing the way. You prepare the way. You have prepared the way.”
I realized there is something powerful about thanking God for something that we know He has promised to do, according to what He has promised in His Word. There is something about this simple and trusting kind of, “thank You” that does more than I think we realize.
This kind of “thank You” is a declaration of our trust in Him, and in His promise. We thank Him, because of who He is, and what He has done, but also because we know and trust that He is going to do what He has said He will do — because we know who He is. ?☀️He’s a Father we can trust.
We can trust that He has prepared the way. We can go ahead and thank Him for that, even as we are waiting to see His way unfold. ?
I think when we do this, it gives God the warm and fuzzies. ?To know that His children trust Him, believe in Him, and trust in what He has promised He will do without a shadow of a doubt. I think it brings Him joy.
But something I was reminded of, as what I heard, later developed into the full sentence…
“He prepares the way…. but we must walk in it.“
Yes, He has prepared the way, and He will direct our steps, He will speak to us and reveal to us and lead us into His way…but we must be willing to walk those steps. We must be willing to take those steps.
“Many plans are in a man’s heart, but the purpose of the LORD will prevail.” – Proverbs 19:21
His way is never going to be something we are capable of doing in our own strength. ❤️
“I know, O LORD, that a man’s way is not his own; no one who walks directs his own steps.” – Jeremiah 10:23
We can take comfort in knowing that He has prepared the way. He has gone ahead of us, He knows all things. He’s calling us into our purpose. He’s calling us into the path He has created. He’s drawing us.
….but He’s not forcing us.
He does want the best for us. He does want to see us walk in our purpose.
It is up to us to take His way, to walk the path. He has made a good way for us, and we can take comfort in knowing that He has promised to direct our steps on this path.
This path cannot be walked in our own strength…it will not be an easy path, but “He has prepared the way…”
I love this passage from Proverbs in The Passion Translation,
“It is the Lord who directs your life,
for each step you take is ordained by God
to bring you closer to your destiny.
So much of your life, then, remains a mystery!
Be careful in making a rash promise before God,
or you may be trapped by your vow and live to regret it.
A wise king is able to discern corruption
and remove wickedness from his kingdom.” – Proverbs 20:24-26 TPT
Thank You for Your kind and loving wisdom, God. I trust You!
