12.27.19 – Marveling at His Mystery

I love the way God uses simplicity in such a profound way.

Layer, upon layer, upon layer of depth… designed into the simplest of things.

Mystery and truth are hidden within these layers that are built into, and designed into His creation, within His Word, for a purpose.

These mysteries and truths are hidden and waiting to be found by those who are given the eyes to see and ears to hear…

“All these things Jesus spoke to the multitude in parables; and without a parable He did not speak to them, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying:

“I will open My mouth in parables;
I will utter things kept secret from the foundation of the world.”

-Matthew 13:34-35

I began digging into Matthew — the parables, and then the part where Jesus sat with the disciples, and together they dug further into the depths of the parables that He spoke to the general public. I sat and wondered what it must have been like to sit there with Jesus in that moment.

The challenging part of the truth is…

…to those the deeper truths are revealed to, there is much responsibility.

There is a weight of accountability that comes with the understanding of these mysteries and truths.

“For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse.”

-Romans 1:19-20 ESV

“The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field, which a man found and hid; and for joy over it he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field.”

– Matthew 13:44

On the surface, the ways of God might seem foolish, according to earthly standards.

But to those who have been given eyes to see, ears to hear…. ??✨

“Blessed are your eyes for they see, and your ears for they hear…”

-Matthew 13:16

“But your eyes are privileged, for they see. Delighted are your ears, for they are open to hear all these things. Many prophets and godly people in times past yearned to see these days of miracles that you’ve been favored to see. They would have given everything to hear the revelation you’ve been favored to hear. Yet they didn’t get to see as much as a glimpse or hear even a whisper.”

-Matthew 13:16-17 TPT

We are not just reading about “old things” and “things that have happened in times past” when we read the Word of God….. we are reading about the things God is actively doing in the “here and now”… He is still revealing deeper mysteries within the layers, upon layers, upon layers of His truth.

“It is He who reveals the profound and hidden things; He knows what is in the darkness, And the light dwells with Him.”

-Daniel 2:22

“Call to Me and I will answer you, and I will tell you great and mighty things, which you do not know.”

-Jeremiah 33:3

Oh God, it’s all worth it. The weight and the responsibility –the treasure of knowing You and discovering You is all worth it. Cultivate my heart so that I can see You and hear You and know You deeply, and that I may get a glimpse of understanding, of Your beautiful and mysterious ways…help me to be responsible and wise with the truth You allow me to understand. Thank You that I don’t have to depend on my own knowledge, or intellect to be able to understand and see Your truth.

“The unfolding of your words gives light; it imparts understanding to the simple.”

-Psalm 119:130

Thank You, Father. ?✨
