Something I keep noticing about God –and usually it just “hits” me every now and then… is how He loves to use the small and simple things to convey His greatest messages to us. What a contrast!
“Then the LORD said, “Go out and stand on the mountain before the LORD. Behold, the LORD is about to pass by.” And a great and mighty wind tore into the mountains and shattered the rocks before the LORD, but the LORD was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake, but the LORD was not in the earthquake. After the earthquake there was a fire, but the LORD was not in the fire. And after the fire came a still, small voice.” – 1 Kings 19:11-12
I mean, God could do “big” all the time if He wanted to…He’s as big as big can get! But there is a reason and purpose behind His love and preference for using the small and simple, for keeping it “simple”…
“But I fear, lest somehow, as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, so your minds may be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.” – 2 Corinthians 11:3
God knows that we can get carried away, consumed, and confused by our minds.
God wants us to get it, and He has made a way for us to “get it”…and if we’re looking for Him, and if we know Him and His ways, we’ll get to see Him, because we’ll be able to recognize Him. ?
…through the ways of a child…
through a little bird on the front porch…
through a beam of light…
through a simple tear falling down a persons face…
Just think of the power that comes from simply speaking the name of “Jesus”…
“But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to put to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to put to shame the things which are mighty; and the base things of the world and the things which are despised God has chosen, and the things which are not, to bring to nothing the things that are, that no flesh should glory in His presence. But of Him you are in Christ Jesus, who became for us wisdom from God—and righteousness and sanctification and redemption—that, as it is written, “He who glories, let him glory in the Lord.” – 1 Corinthians 1:27-31
I’m so thankful and relieved, that I don’t have to “be anything big or special” in order for God to be able to use me to do the things He wants to do.
He keeps reminding me that all I have to do is know Him, and be willing to follow and obey Him. He will take care of all the rest.
Yes, He can even use “you”…. ?<——- (in case that’s too small to see, it’s a little mouse)
Father, Your ways are beautiful. Thank You for making a way for us to get to be a part of the things You want to do. ?
