“A thief has only one thing in mind—he wants to steal, slaughter, and destroy. But I have come to give you everything in abundance, more than you expect—life in its fullness until you overflow!” – John 10:10 TPT
I love when the Lord breaks me open… but it sounds painful, doesn’t it?
When I turn my heart toward Him, He begins to break through whatever it is that’s creating a barrier between me and Him, He breaks through with His light and with His love…
It could be stubbornness, sin, it can be wrong thinking, it can be distraction, it can be apathy or weariness, it can be fear, it can be wounds from pain…
But when I turn my heart toward Him, when I get into this place where He can open me up, and break through, and reach me in a way that words cannot describe…
Brokenness. ??
What He fills me up with is far greater than anything I had before. What He has for me, in that broken place, is far more valuable than anything I had been hanging onto.
“The Lord is near to the brokenhearted
and saves the crushed in spirit.” – Psalm 34:18“For My hand made all these things, Thus all these things came into being,” declares the LORD “But to this one I will look, To him who is humble and contrite of spirit, and who trembles at My word.” – Isaiah 66:2
“For thus says the high and exalted One Who lives forever, whose name is Holy, “I dwell on a high and holy place, And also with the contrite and lowly of spirit In order to revive the spirit of the lowly And to revive the heart of the contrite.” – Isaiah 57:15
He is near those who are broken before Him.
And this is what He says to the broken, and the lowly, and the heart of the contrite,
“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” – John 16:33
It’s His way.
He makes the times of brokenness, beautiful. He makes the times of brokenness all worth it, because brokenness allows me to be close with Him in such a way, that I can feel His tenderness of heart toward me. ?
“The pain passes, but the beauty remains.” – Pierre-Auguste Renoir
Thank You, Jesus. ?It’s all worth it if it brings me closer to You, and if it allows me to do what You have asked me to do. And You take the brokenness and You fill me with hope, and with strength, and with endurance. You revive me and You restore me, filling me back up with life that can only come from You — “life” that can overflow out of my life and into this world.
“Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” – John 14
