2.18.2020 – Stories from the Garden

I love watching my house plants that hang by the dining room window.

How they grow, and how they change…

One day they’re small, then next day they’ve grown.

How their branches sometimes reach and cling to other nearby branches…

At times I see them struggle, perhaps they lack water, or they’ve been given too much…

Maybe the sun hasn’t been shining on them as much, maybe the air is not treating them right…

At times I have to cut them back, taking off the dead and unhealthy parts that hinder them.

The other day, I cut off a branch to give away. To start a new plant.

And I noticed this particular plant was looking a bit weighed down, lackluster…

So I trimmed it up, took some of the weight off it’s branches.

Well, this morning, I happened to take notice of this little plant…

I looked at where I had cut away from its branches —how this plant is now lifted up so tall, how this plant is now standing so strong and beautiful again…

Where this plant was once dull, weighed-down, and lifeless…

It is now strengthened, fully alive, and lifting up towards the sky…

Revived.

Growing strong. Living its life.

Now healthier, now revived –now so beautifully rising up from the cutting away of the things that were once weighing it down.

Isn’t that something?

Isn’t that just like us?

Isn’t that just like God? ???????

“He cares for the branches connected to me by lifting and propping up the fruitless branches and pruning every fruitful branch to yield a greater harvest. The words I have spoken over you have already cleansed you. So you must remain in life-union with me, for I remain in life-union with you. For as a branch severed from the vine will not bear fruit, so your life will be fruitless unless you live your life intimately joined to mine.” – John 15:2-4 TPT
