3.28.2020 – Almighty God

This morning I am reminded of how, in times of our greatest weakness, in times we are most vulnerable, in times we are “helpless” …and when things are about as “outside of our control” as they can possibly be….

How much more can God be God?

How much more must we depend on Him?

How much more can His glory be seen?

When we “can’t” how much more “can He”?

“But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.” —2 Corinthians 12:9

How we depend on Him. How we so desperately need Him.

“As for man, his days are like grass—he blooms like a flower of the field; when the wind has passed over, it vanishes, and its place remembers it no more. But from everlasting to everlasting the loving devotion of the LORD extends to those who fear Him, and His righteousness to their children’s children—…” —Psalm 103:15-17

“A voice says, “Cry out!”
And I ask, “What should I say?”
“All people are as frail as grass,
and their elegance is like a wilting wildflower.
The grass withers, the flower fades
    when the breath of Yahweh blows upon it;
the people are just like grass!
But even though grass withers and the flower fades,
the word of our God stands strong forever!” —Isaiah 40:6-8 TPT

“Therefore take up the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you will be able to stand your ground, and having done everything, to stand.” —Ephesians 6:13

God, You are Almighty God… You are faithful, and no matter how the situation may seem, no matter how “helpless” I may feel, I know that I can place my trust in You. I know that I can have complete peace because when I feel that I am in the most “helpless” and vulnerable place, I know that You are God, and I know that I can expect to see Your glory, I can expect to encounter You in whatever I may face. Thank You, Jesus, for making a way for us. Thank You for Your peace, and for carrying us through times that feel so very uncertain. The truth is, all of it gives way to us getting to see Your glory, we get to be excited and joyful to get to see You be God in the situation. Almighty God, we will wait expectantly and excitedly for You!

It is of the LORD’S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not.” —Lamentations 3:22

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” —Matthew 11:28

This song reminds me that even when I feel helpless, and when the situation is completely outside of my control, I am being carried by an Almighty God…and I can praise His name!

“Almighty God”

by Sandra McCracken and All Sons & Daughters

Almighty god
To you all hearts are open
Search and know
Our thoughts and anxious fears
Wash us in the fountain
Of your mercy
Come with your light
We cannot hide from you

Almighty god
To you all hearts are open
With gratitude
We raise our song to you
Come and fill
The praises of your people
In grace and truth
You make us new again
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah

Almighty god
To you all hearts are open
We long for more
Than what this world provides
No shallow spring
Will ever satisfy us
But your river deep
Floods over everything

Almighty god
To you all hearts are open
You take away
Our sickness and our sin
Oh lamb of god
We gather at your table
In bread and wine
You have supplied our needs
Almighty god
To you all hearts are open
