This morning has been interesting… and I think the best way to write about everything that is on my heart, is to simply document the “trail”…
I opened up my bible to 2 Chronicles Chapter 22. I first noted the headings of the sections in Chapter 22-23 and it’s talking about the evil queen Athaliah, who was the daughter of the evil queen Jezebel.
As I read this section, and did a bit of research about this “Athaliah” and the basic summary and characteristics of her “evil attempts”— I couldn’t help but notice how God was already preparing to backfire her evil attempts by preparing a king in hiding…
“Joash remained hidden in the Temple of the LORD for six years while Athaliah ruled over the land.” —2 Kings 11:3
In the end, this evil queen’s murderous, destructive attempts are turned back around on her, and she is defeated.
Then the Lord showed me this verse:
“The trouble he causes shall return to his own head. His violence shall come down on the crown of his own head.” —Psalm 7:16 (World English Bible)
Here is another verse (in a couple of different versions) about evil schemes being foiled, and a great reminder of the truth:
“Because they sought to do you harm, they devised a wicked plan—but they will fail!” —Psalm 21:11 (CEBA)
“They made evil plans against you, but their traps won’t work.” —Psalm 21:11 (New Century Version)
“Your enemies make evil plans against you. They think up evil things to do. But they can’t succeed.”—Psalm 21:11 (NIRV)
Perhaps the Lord wanted to remind me of this…
The evil attempts of the enemy are backfired, as God makes a way for His people. ?
“Devise a plan, but it will be thwarted; state a proposal, but it will not happen. For God is with us.” —Isaiah 8:10
And this…
“Never envy the wicked! 2 Soon they fade away like grass and disappear. 3 Trust in the Lord instead. Be kind and good to others; then you will live safely here in the land and prosper, feeding in safety.
4 Be delighted with the Lord. Then he will give you all your heart’s desires. 5 Commit everything you do to the Lord. Trust him to help you do it, and he will. 6 Your innocence will be clear to everyone. He will vindicate you with the blazing light of justice shining down as from the noonday sun.
7 Rest in the Lord; wait patiently for him to act. Don’t be envious of evil men who prosper.
8 Stop your anger! Turn off your wrath. Don’t fret and worry—it only leads to harm. 9 For the wicked shall be destroyed, but those who trust the Lord shall be given every blessing. 10 Only a little while and the wicked shall disappear. You will look for them in vain. 11 But all who humble themselves before the Lord shall be given every blessing and shall have wonderful peace.” —Psalm 37:1-22 (TLB)
WOW… thank You, Father for this encouraging reminder of TRUTH! You are with us, and You are faithfully leading us into our destinies!
