6.2.2020 – Facing the Wounds

I can’t get over how quickly this world can shift and change…almost overnight.

How quickly these “waves” can come….how quickly these “waves” can cause destruction.

I am unsure of exactly how to express what is on my heart right now, so perhaps I’ll do it this way…

We have a Savior who is near the brokenhearted. ??

We have a Heavenly Father who mends and soothes our bandaged wounds —the One who heals and repairs our wounds.

The LORD is close to the brokenhearted; he rescues those whose spirits are crushed.”—Psalm 34:18

He has a way with wounds that are unsightly and ravaged, wounds that have been attempted to be hidden and covered and ‘protected’ under bloody bandage dressings…wounds that are not healing properly.

Wounds that are heading toward infection…or death.

But oh if we simply turn and look to Him….?☀️

And if we simply realize that He’s right there to face these painful and scary wounds with us —we’re not meant to have to face these painful wounds alone.

“Father, I’m hurting…”

“I’m afraid, Father…”

“Father, I’m feeling this ‘thing’…”

“I’m fighting this ‘thing’, Father…”

He has this beautiful way…. of making these wounded places even more beautiful than they ever were before, as He loves us back to life. ✨

When we face our wounds in His presence, we’re not facing them in the darkness, we’re not facing them alone, we’re not facing them in a “danger zone”…. no, we’re facing them in the loving light of Jesus, for He understands all wounds. He’s felt the pain of them too.

He is the only One who can heal these wounds.

“He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.”—Psalm 147:3

Lord, You mend and heal and soothe and repair the wounds of the brokenhearted. Holy Spirit, will You remind these wounded hearts that You are there, and that You are ready and willing to soothe and heal and repair and redeem these wounds, in a way that only You can? In a most beautiful way?

Somehow, You don’t see the “ugliness” of these wounds in our flesh and in our hearts, You see wholeness. You see beauty. You see the beauty of these wounds being redeemed.

Will You do a work that only You can do, Lord?

Thank You for being so tenderly near, Lord. There is nothing like Your nearness. ?
