6.25.2020 – Enduring the Hard Things

God has this way of somehow making certain things that we must endure —hard things, painful things, horrible things, “impossible things”….. bearable.

The word “bearable” means,

“able to be endured”

He has given that to us. ?✨

Have you ever looked back upon your life, perhaps at some of the hardest things you’ve ever had to endure, and you think to yourself…

“How in the word did I make it through that??”

And you know He was doing something to help you to be able to make it through.

And you know He was doing something to help you to endure.

You know it was Him. ?✨

We look back and we don’t know how we made it, we don’t know how we managed, we don’t know how we’ve healed…. and we know it was Jesus, we know it was Him. ?

And not only does He help us to endure, He understands anything we could ever have to go through from His own experience with hardship and trial.

He overcame, and He has given us the ability to overcome. ☀️

“I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”—John 16:33

“For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith.”—1 John 5:4

Perhaps you’ve looked at someone else’s’ life—a situation that person has gone through, and you just can’t imagine having to go through. It just makes you sick on your stomach at the thought of having to go through what they went through…

“How in the world? I just couldn’t imagine being in their shoes…how would I get through that?”

2 Timothy 1:7-8 says,. “For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.

Jesus gave us a way to endure and to overcome the impossible —His Spirit. He has a way of helping us through these kinds of things, things don’t don’t seem bearable, things that seem impossible to endure. And not only does He help us through, when we’re in the moment of going through these things, He gives us peace that doesn’t make sense!

Have you ever been in the middle of something and you—somehow— feel unshaken (like the opposite of what you would naturally be) …and you realize you’re being carried, you realize you’re experiencing His peace?

It’s kind of like you’re floating, isn’t it? Have you ever felt that?

Kind of like, “I don’t know how I’m floating here, ‘above this thing’ that I’m enduring, this thing that I would normally be a complete mess over, and yet I have this peace…”

When you pass through the deep, stormy sea,

you can count on me to be there with you.

When you pass through raging rivers,

    You will not drown.

When you walk through persecution like fiery flames,

    you will not be burned;

the flames will not harm you,

for I am your Savior, Yahweh, your mighty God,

the Holy One of Israel!” —Isaiah 43:2-3

“He who knows no hardships will know no hardihood. He who faces no calamity will need no courage. Mysterious though it is, the characteristics in human nature which we love best grow in a soil with a strong mixture of troubles.” —Harry Emerson Fosdick

Hardships often prepare ordinary people for an extraordinary destiny.” —C.S. Lewis

Jesus, thank You for helping us to endure. Thank You for understanding the things we must endure. Thank You for being in all of it with us. You can see the other side of it, You know the beautiful, beautiful things You plan to do with it all… Thank You for providing a way through these things, Your way ... and thank You for providing Your peace, a kind of peace that doesn’t make any sense to us, and yet, it’s available to us. You’ve given it to us. You make a way. ⛰☀️

“Who is it that overcomes the world except the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?”—1 John 5:5

“We are weak, but He is strong…”
