A friend got me a beautiful hummingbird feeder for my birthday… ?
I have a window over my kitchen sink, and we found the perfect spot to hang the feeder so that I could watch the hummingbirds as I’m washing the dishes (makes it so much more entertaining! haha) ? ?
We’ve never really seen many hummingbirds around the house before, but I saw one the other day that looked into the window at me—it got my attention… and then… I got a feeder for my birthday not too long after that! So I was excited to start seeing them around here…
After a couple of days of hanging the feeder, I spotted our first hummingbird, and by the next day, we had a whole family of them swarming around! They’ve been flittering about ever since!
Over the last week or so, I’ve been watching for them, and when I see them at the feeder, or sitting on the power line, or flying about at the nearby tree, I find myself studying their behaviors, looking at their beautiful colors, taking note of when they are hyped up and when they’re more at ease. Just all kinds of things…. and it’s got me realizing that I think the Lord is going to show me some beautiful things about these little birds. ✨
He usually gets my attention within His creation, and then He’ll often show me some things He wants me to see. ?☀️
One thing I found out about these little birds, is a “flock” or a little “family” of hummingbirds is called a,
“charm, glittering, shimmer, tune, bouquet, hover.”
I love that! ? I can see it when I look at them “glittering” about. ✨
They’re so tiny, and yet they’re strong, they’re determined, they can be feisty— courageous and determined, and quite brave… in spite of their size.

They are created with an incredible ability to fly—they’re fast, and they fly with incredible precision and with ease.
Their colors and markings are so vivid and creative! ? Did you know that when the light hits their wings in a certain way, their feathers appear to give off brilliant, “rainbow like” colors —colors that are hidden until the light hits them in a certain way.
I’ll often find myself laughing at them twirling around—zooming around here and there. They’re all over the place!
When I’m outside, I can hear their tiny little chirp sounds coming from the nearby tree. ? It seems like they’ve decided to make themselves a home here, for now.
I never would have thought watching a little family of hummingbirds would bring me so much joy and amusement while I’m at the sink washing dishes! haha ?
I don’t really know the purpose of this post, other than to just write about what’s on my heart this morning… and perhaps it’s a reminder that God is speaking… He’s revealing…
He’s showing us treasures and secrets and beautiful lessons that are radiating from His creation! Lessons that teach us about life, lessons that teach us about Him, physical things that He points out to us that teach us about the “invisible things” that we cannot see with our eyes…
“For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities – his eternal power and divine nature – have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.” —Romans 1:20
I love this verse in the Passion Translation…
“Opposition to truth cannot be excused on the basis of ignorance, because from the creation of the world, the invisible qualities of God’s nature have been made visible, such as his eternal power and transcendence. He has made his wonderful attributes easily perceived, for seeing the visible makes us understand the invisible. So then, this leaves everyone without excuse.” —Romans 1:20 TPT
Thank You, Father. ?
