We have an enemy who wants to see us “build in our own strength” and for our own glory… and then crumble….and stay eternally crumbled…that we would crumble and fall because of a “weak and unstable foundation”…
But we have a God … Who wants to rebuild us to His original design—with Christ as our firm foundation…that we may see and radiate His glorious salvation!
But when we start building all wrong… He’s warns us, and He’s calls us back. He reminds us of His original building plan, the way we should go.
His warning patterns and signs are right there for us to look to see.
He warns us because He loves us…
And when we don’t listen, and we keep building away in our own strength, He’ll allow things to shake us and wake us…. because He can see the far more dangerous consequences to come if our course is not changed back to His building plans. He can see into eternity…
And while the enemy’s plans are for eternal destruction….
God’s desire and heart for us is this:
“As for you, the one who lives in the shelter of the sovereign One, and resides in the protective shadow of the mighty king–“—Psalm 91:1
In The Message version it continues and says…
“You who sit down in the High God’s presence,
spend the night in Shaddai’s shadow,
Say this: “God, you’re my refuge.
I trust in you and I’m safe!”
That’s right—he rescues you from hidden traps,
shields you from deadly hazards.
His huge outstretched arms protect you—
under them you’re perfectly safe;
his arms fend off all harm.”
But He loves us enough to warn us when we’ve gone off course….when we’ve left the shelter of His protective arms…
He longs for us to come running back to Him.
Like a little one who has run out and left the protective umbrella of their parent in the midst of a storm…. but the storm drives them running back to the umbrella covering where they’re safe again.
There’s far greater destruction that can come…there are even greater consequences that we could face…
He’s so good to shake us awake when we’ve fallen asleep in the midst of a house fire.
And in the midst of the warning, He’s calling us back to the place that He designed for us to dwell—with Him.
But we have to choose to dwell there. It’s up to us to meet Him there.
He’s calling us and inviting us into that place, but we have to take our steps to come to the place where He meets us.
He’s calling, but we must take heed, and we must respond, we must run back to the place of living beneath His shadow.
…this place He created for us to commune with Him.
In His presence. ?
He doesn’t want any of us to have to crumble and fall under the consequences of our actions…
But as a good Father, He will allow whatever it takes to get our attention. And as a good Father, He will not allow an unstable house to remain unproperly built as it is —because He knows it won’t stand.
So He shakes us so that all that needs come down and come out can go ahead and come crashing down, but even from that place of consequence… even from that place of disaster and rubble… Father, it’s Your desire and plan to rebuild us in a way that we are built on Your firm foundation! We get to have hope in You!
And it’s because You love us…. and because You’re calling us back….
You’re a God who sticks to Your Word.
Your glory will be seen and displayed for all to see. ☀️
“But truly, as I live, all the earth will be filled with the glory of the LORD.”—Numbers 14:21
Side Note: As I was sitting here this morning, I saw a literal scene unfold in the clouds as I was looking out the window beyond my laptop…
Just before the sunrise, I saw the shape of 2 pillar-looking clouds form, coming from the dark clouds… to me they looked like the shape of the 2 twin towers. Then they dissolved away….
But after this... came the most glorious, golden sunrise, these beautiful rays of light bursting right from where I saw those 2 clouds before.
His glory will be seen. ?
“For behold, darkness shall cover the earth, and thick darkness the peoples; but the LORD will arise upon you, and his glory will be seen upon you.”—Isaiah 60:2
Father, thank You for calling us, in the midst of Your warning. There is hope for our return! May we have eyes to see. May we take heed. The enemy wants to kill and destroy and drown us, but You want to heal and restore us, that we may come alive in Your presence! May Your will be done on earth, as it is in heaven. And may we be found beneath the safety of Your shadow, Lord God!
“With length of days I satisfy him, And I cause him to look on My salvation!“—Psalm 91:16
