10.15.2020 – Deeper and Wider

This morning I was reminded of a little children’s hymn I used to sing allllll the time, it’s a song called “Deep and Wide.”

This song was playing in my head as I woke up this morning, I could almost hear myself singing it as a child, almost as real as it actually being in my ears this morning…

It’s a beloved children’s hymn. And it was a song on my heart—and as a 4 year old, I used to sing it with ALL of my heart as I stretched my hands “deep” and “wide” over and over and over again, while sort of twirling in a circle.

This little song truly went somewhere deep within me to stick with me all these years, in such a way.

I think there’s something within this hymn that the Lord wants to remind me of today, something new He’s wanting to point out and show me. So I’m digging into the full lyrics this morning…

“There’s a wondrous fountain, filled with living water, flowing from the Savior’s wounded side…

There’s an invitation to the heavy laden, to this fountain flowing deep and wide…

Deep and wide,

Deep and wide,

There’s a fountain flowing deep and wide…

Yes, tis’ deep and wide, deep and wide, there’s a fountain flowing deep and wide.”

And this morning, I am reminded that in EVERY WAY

God is ALWAYSDEEPER and WIDER” and BIGGER than ANYTHING… beyond ALL THINGS!

And there is no way we can grasp it in our minds…and yet we can somehow feel it and know it in our hearts.

As we believe what is true…as we trust, and as we step into our journey to discover Him and know Him…

…we’ll be constantly amazed…?✨

As we discover the endless, eternal, multi-colored depth of who He is…. the “deep and wide”ness of God

And there’s always more. ?

And He’s always more and more wonderful. ☀️

And the deeper and wider we go with Him, the more life we’ll find, the more heaven we’ll experience… here and now. ??

He’s a treasure that will be discovered and treasured for eternity. ?

He’s a “deep and wide” God, and yet He is drawn to the smallest of the smallest, and the weakest of the weakest.

Isn’t that something?

“My response is to get down on my knees before the Father, this magnificent Father who parcels out all heaven and earth. I ask him to strengthen you by his Spirit—not a brute strength but a glorious inner strength—that Christ will live in you as you open the door and invite him in. And I ask him that with both feet planted firmly on love, you’ll be able to take in with all followers of Jesus the extravagant dimensions of Christ’s love. Reach out and experience the breadth! Test its length! Plumb the depths! Rise to the heights! Live full lives, full in the fullness of God.” —Ephesians 3:17-19 The Message

Thank You for reminding me of this song, Father. ? Help me to walk every moment of my life with the realization… that no matter how big the situation that I’m facing may seem, no matter how overwhelming and impossible “life ahead” might seem to be, You are ALWAYS bigger, and You are always deeper and wider, in the most beautiful, mysterious way—than we can comprehend or imagine. But Lord, help me to really grasp it deeply in my heart, that I may walk with this realization in a “deeper and wider” way. ✨
