“…the people living in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of the shadow of death a light has dawned.”—Matthew 4:16
“When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”—John 8:12
I’ve been thinking about His “Light” again this morning…
How He is the Light….and He has made us to be “Children of Light”☀️
“Believe in the light while you have the light, so that you may become children of light.”—John 12:36
He puts His light within us—a light intended to shine through us, and into this dark world…so that His light may be seen and experienced—that HE may be known!
“In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”—Matthew 5:16
“You, LORD, keep my lamp burning; my God turns my darkness into light.”—Psalm 18:28
But what happens when we don’t allow His light to shine through us?
What happens when it gets blocked?
What happens when we allow darkness and sin to prevent His light from shining through in the way it was designed to?
“Your eye is the lamp of your body. When your eyes are healthy, your whole body also is full of light. But when they are unhealthy, your body also is full of darkness. See to it, then, that the light within you is not darkness.“—Luke 11:34-35
“Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.”—Psalm 119:105
As His children, He puts His Light within us—He lives within us…. and we become His “children of light”…
He created us to be His “Children of Light”…His Light…
…a light that draws and rescues many children out of the darkness and brings them into His arms. ☀️
And the enemy wants to block His light from radiating out of us…from being seen in our lives…
But…
“But you belong to God, my dear children. You have already won a victory over those people, because the Spirit who lives in you is greater than the spirit who lives in the world.”—1 John 4:4
“But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.“—1 Peter 2:9
“The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.“—John 1:5
He draws us into His light…
A place where we can begin to see the truth.
A place where we can begin to see Him and know Him.
A place where we can begin to see who we’ve truly been created to be, and what He has created us for.
Lord, how You show us and reveal to us, the places within ourselves that prevent Your light from shining and radiating through us in a way that is pure.✨?
Forgive us for allowing this… forgive us for allowing our sins to prevent Your pure light from shining through us!
But You draw us into the place where You clean us up, and You “shine us up” so that Your pure light can shine through us, and so that YOU can be seen by those who so desperately need to be drawn out of the darkness.
How You desire to draw them close…
Oh help us to be able to shine Your light like a “lighthouse”….
Drawing and rescuing those who, just like us…. so desperately need You.
Here’s something I asked myself this morning…
Do we really realize where those in darkness are headed? Can we really see it, do we realize the urgency of this, or have we become dulled and distracted? ?
Am I giving way…. for His LIGHT to shine through me?
“The LORD is my light and my salvation— whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life— of whom shall I be afraid?”—Psalm 27:1
Father, thank You for drawing me out of the darkness and into Your light. ?☀️? You did that for me, and You desire to do that for so many others! And You are so faithfully cleansing me, and polishing me, and “shining me up”— that I may be able to “give way” for Your pure light to shine through me. Oh Lord, help me. ?
