God has this way of allowing us to make certain kinds of mistakes…
And then there are the “almost mistakes” He so miraculously puts a stop to before we mess up our lives “real good”…
He so powerfully intervenes. He doesn’t let it happen. ☀️ He’s faithful to help us with our steps.
He saves His children, those who belong to Him— from making those deadly “almost mistakes.”
Yes, He’s faithful to help us with our steps.
Have you seen Him do that in your life? Boy, I have.
“The steps of the God-pursuing ones
follow firmly in the footsteps of the Lord,
and God delights in every step they take to follow him.
24 If they stumble badly they will still survive,
for the Lord lifts them up with his hands. —Psalm 37:23-24
This morning I am thankful for the kinds of mistakes He’s allowed, and I’m thankful for the “almost mistakes” He did not allow to happen in my life…
As a child of God, I can know that all of the kinds of mistakes He’s allowed me to make in my life, all the times I’ve done things wrong, things I shouldn’t have said or done, perhaps my mind wasn’t thinking as it should, perhaps I was blind and couldn’t see—the times I could have kept going in that mistake and messed up really bad…
…but as I come to God about these kinds of things—mistakes and “almost mistakes”— in these situations, as He helps me back up, as He washes it all clean, and He heals the pain, and He mends my heart… and as He sets me right again… it’s like He “archives it” into being part of my story that He somehow, in His own beautiful, mysterious way—He pulls it all together to make it into a “good” story.
He helps us to have a “good story”…. ?☀️ Because He’s a GOOD Father and He has “GOOD” in His heart—in His plans for us!
And knowing this… we can give Him thanks in ALL things!
“Give thanks in every circumstance, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”—1 Thessalonians 5:18
And later we can look back,
And we can begin to see the way He has worked it all out…
And we’re amazed…
And oh, how we’ve grown… how we’ve learned. ??☀️
How we are still learning and still growing…
Through that mistake and through that “almost mistake”….
He somehow uses even those kinds of mistakes, and our “almost mistakes” in our story, in our testimony of His goodness, and His faithfulness.
And guess what?
He can even use other peoples’ mistakes and “almost mistakes” that have happened to us… ☀️
And we can see what perhaps “could have been”… “but God.”
And He somehow blends it all together in to something “good”—something usable, something magnificently beautiful…. part of our story—our testimony, His glorious, miraculous way!
Father, thank You for allowing me to make the kinds of mistakes that grow me and teach me and stretch me… and thank You for stopping the “almost mistakes” that could have taken me down a deadly path.
I thank You for it all. ? I trust You with my steps. And I trust You with my life!
