11.26.2020 – Enduring the Storm

I got slammed yesterday…

It felt like a sudden burst of harsh wind that hit me…and, honestly, I got a little swept up in it. ?

And do you know, nothing horribly bad happened to me during my day?

It was a good day, and yet…

“Why was I feeling like it was just awful?”

The battle was taking place within my mind.

And yet, it felt so real.

Well, it was real—it was a real attack of the enemy, but everything that was taking place was only in my mind.

And I knew I had to come into the light when really, I wanted just to hide.

…I knew I had to stay in the light. I knew I had to push through to grasp hold of Jesus, to hang onto to His truth.

He’s so faithful to make His truth real to us in all the places where the lies attempt to convince us, to deceive us, to pull us under…

And then, after we must endure a little while, He brings us into a clearing again. ?

He lifts us up above the clouds—and we can see it all from His perspective.

And sometimes He’ll even allow us to see why we had to endure the storm—and then we can see the immense beauty of it all. ?

“Oh GOD! That’s why You allowed me to endure though that…. You could see it from the other side—and what a beautiful sight!” ☀️

His truth shall be your shield and your buckler.“—Psalm 91:4

This Psalm 91

He’s been making it real to me—and in ways I never would have expected.

It’s like He’s walking me through this Psalm (which, in places, feels a lot like enduring through a storm)… verse-by-verse… step-by-step…

…moment-by-moment.

Sometimes it’s easy to get swept away in the storm of lies…

But when we make Jesus—the Word—our “anchor”… we can know that when the winds of lies hit our minds, when we feel “all swept up” in the swirling lies…He will make us strong.

He is unwavering in the storm. Take hold of Him. Cling to Him for dear life!

He will see us through, even when we can’t see the way with our own eyes.

“The Lord says, “I will rescue those who love me. I will protect those who trust in my name. When they call on me, I will answer; will be with them in trouble. I will rescue and honor them.“—Psalm 91:14-15

“So He said to the Jews who had believed Him, “If you continue in My word, you are truly My disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”—John 8:31-32

Those who live in the shelter of the Most High will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty. This I declare about the Lord: He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; he is my God, and I trust him.”—Psalm 91:1-2

Thank You, Father. ? Sometimes we must endure through the storm when we’d really prefer that it “just go away.” But Your ways are higher than our ways, Lord. And sometimes You want to teach us things as we learn to endure through the storm. But no matter what, You are always good. And while we sometimes must endure the storm until it passes—we know that You’re with us in it. And we know the storm will pass—and we know…. that YOU already see the “storm” from the other side, from a higher place…even when we cannot see it yet. You know the beautiful, valuable lessons we will learn from enduring through the storm with You.

And we can know that the rainbow—Your covenant, Your promise— is just there on the other side. ?

Let us hold on firmly to the hope we profess, because we can trust God to keep his promise.”—Hebrews 10:23
