The Lord keeps bringing me to the place in Jeremiah where it says…
“‘Do not be afraid of their faces, for I am with you to deliver you,’ says the Lord.” —Jeremiah 1:8
What is the Lord doing here?
He’s preparing Jeremiah for what he might have to endure as he speaks the word of God to a people who may not want to hear the truth.
And He’s reminding Jeremiah to “not fear“….. in advance.
He’s speaking into Jeremiah, that he will remember—in those crucial moments that he needs to be reminded— that no matter what kind of situation he might find himself in for the sake of the Lord, that God will be faithful to deliver Him—not to fear, not to run, not to be afraid of what the people might say or do or think about him.
I believe the Lord is also wanting to prepare us now.
He prepares our hearts in His timing. And He gives us what we need when we need it.
“The preparations of the heart in man, and the answer of the tongue, is from the Lord.”—Proverbs 16:1
He’s wanting to build something up within us to prepare us.
And He’ll give us exactly what we need, when we need it.
He’s a good Father! He’s faithful!
But this morning as I sat here and thought about the times we are living in, I believe these are the things we need to have “built up” in our hearts—at least I know that I need more of it in my own heart…
Faith & Focus
Heavenly Wisdom
Boldness & Bravery
Perseverance
And most of all..
Love.
So Father, will You search our hearts, and will You forgive us and wash away the things that hinder us, or could hinder us in the days to come?
And will You build up within us, a fierce faith that causes us to keep our focus on You… let faith be our eyes!
And will You give us a wisdom that can only come from You? A wisdom that will guide us through as we choose to take Your way…
And will You replace any fear in our hearts with boldness and bravery… ?
Will You give us endurance so that we may persevere in our prayers and in our actions, all the way, until Your will is done in the situations that may arise…
And Father, will You do a work in our hearts, that we will be able to love deeply with a love that overflows from the loving relationship we experience from being loved by You…
God, we trust You, and we hope in You! ? Thank You for promising to always be with us.
“And don’t be afraid of the people, for I will be with you and will protect you. I, the LORD, have spoken!” —Jeremiah 1:8 NLT
“I’ll tell you where to go and you’ll go there.
I’ll tell you what to say and you’ll say it.
Don’t be afraid of a soul.
I’ll be right there, looking after you.”
God’s Decree.”—Jeremiah 1:8 The Message Translation
