Have you ever reflected back upon your life—perhaps through the writings of your journals, maybe from a memory that suddenly comes to mind…
And when you look at the situations you faced, the trials you came through, the struggles and challenges you fought through to overcome…
And as you look back on how things played out…
“OH! THAT’S what that (fight/ challenge/ struggle/ big mistake/ trial) was about! I can see it now… I can see why the fight to break through was so hard, I can see now WHY I had to fight through to break through… THAT’S why that had to be part of my story—God knew that He was getting me somewhere, and He knew there would be a fight, but He planned to see me through…. and He did. Oh how He did.”
And one day, we’re going to be able to look back on this year of “2020” —”Hindsight 2020″…and understand. We’ll be able to see what God was doing behind the scenes all along.
But right now… we must keep going.
We must keep pressing through.
We must keep trusting Him. We must stay close to Him!
We must keep enduring, even though it’s easier and “safer” to hide, or even to give up…
Never, ever, ever give up!
Never, ever, ever lose hope!
One day we’ll look back upon these days and say…
“OH! That’s why the battle was so hard, that’s why we had to fight… that’s why… that’s why things had to play out that way… that’s why we had to wait in the unknown for a while…
That’s why the enemy was trying to intimidate us, that’s why he was attempting to wear us down, tempting us to give up…
That’s why the enemy wanted us to run to the caves so we’ll not put up a fight… so we’ll not stand firmly in who we’ve been created to be in this time…
…but now I can look back and see…. what God was so beautifully and miraculously doing behind the scenes, all along…He brought it all together. He worked it all out within His plan.”
…And we’ll be amazed…. ✨?
I was drawn into Jeremiah again this morning…
“…For I hear many whispering.
Terror is on every side!
“Denounce him! Let us denounce him!”
say all my close friends,
watching for my fall.
“Perhaps he will be deceived;
then we can overcome him
and take our revenge on him.”
11 But the Lord is with me as a dread warrior;
therefore my persecutors will stumble;
they will not overcome me.
They will be greatly shamed,
for they will not succeed.
Their eternal dishonor
will never be forgotten.
12 O Lord of hosts, who tests the righteous,
who sees the heart and the mind,
let me see your vengeance upon them,
for to you have I committed my cause.”—Jeremiah 20:10-12 ESV
I love the way the NKJV reads in verse 11, and I believe this is key to remember in our hearts so that we can declare it and believe it when we need it…and we need it…
“But the Lord is with me as a mighty, awesome One.
Therefore my persecutors will stumble, and will not prevail.”—Jeremiah 20:11 NKJV
Thank You, Father! And I thank You that one day, as Your people, we’ll all be able to look upon this year of 2020… and we’ll see that it really was a year of “hindsight 2020″…..
Definition of “twenty-twenty hindsight“
: the full knowledge and complete understanding that one has about an event only after it has happened.
…and we’ll be able to see what all of this was all about, and Lord, we’ll be able to see how You were with us, how You were working behind the scenes as a “mighty, awesome One” …and in the end, our “persecutors did not prevail!”
As a final note, I just have to share how the Message Translation reads… ??
“But God, a most fierce warrior, is at my side.
Those who are after me will be sent sprawling—
Slapstick buffoons falling all over themselves,
a spectacle of humiliation no one will ever forget.” —Jeremiah 20:11 The Message
One day, all of this madness will make sense when we see it within God’s perfectly-placed pieces of the puzzle, all put together, all beautiful.
Heavenly Father, one day, we’ll look back and see what You were doing in all of this, all along!
And we’ll be filled with awe and wonder. ✨
Thank You, Father. ?
