Have you ever suddenly noticed something “sour” in your own heart?
And then you take notice of the way you’ve been thinking…
and the way you’ve been reacting…
and the kinds of emotions you’ve felt in certain situations…
And it just doesn’t feel right.
I had some things on my heart this morning, and I sat down before the Lord, and I brought my heart to Him…
“Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my concerns.”—Psalm 139:23
The enemy wants to do everything he can to keep us from approaching our Heavenly Father.
he’ll lie to us about who we are to the Father,
he’ll attempt to make us feel too ashamed to come close,
he’ll try to distract us from digging deep,
he’ll probably use fear,
he’ll attempt to make us feel too unworthy of being fixed…
But God wants us to come straight to Him, no matter what condition we’re in.
No matter what we think about ourselves, this is the truth about what God thinks about us:
“Just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love, having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will …” —Ephesians 1:4-5
The enemy KNOWS how God feels about you. How much He loves you!
And his goal, is to keep you from realizing this… because the love of God changes everything!
So know, that you are invited, because God, Himself has personally invited you, through His son Jesus.
So as I brought my “stuff” to God this morning, the Holy Spirit showed me a couple of specific things that I needed to let Him deal with, and that I needed to deal with.
And there were a couple of things that I needed to let Him mend and heal in my heart.
And so I came before Him, asking Him to do this work in my heart regarding these things…
These “ways” in me that I realized are not His ways…
“Make my heart more like Yours, God.”
You see, God has this way of doing a kind of “surgery” on our hearts…
He removes the things that hinder us, issues that will cause us harm, or cause others harm…
And then He mends us in the places He knows we need mending.
And He soothes us with His peace as He surrounds us with His love. ?
Sometimes I don’t feel an instant change, but I have peace knowing the work has been done.
And when we find ourselves in this kind of place,
We can know that we are going to recover, for He has done a work. ✨
And He’s going to lead us right back on the right track regarding these areas of our lives, regarding these places in our hearts.
And then we just keep walking…
Free from the bitterness, free from the offense, healed of rejection, healed of the wounding that caused us to hurt so deeply in our hearts…perhaps wounds that had developed years and years ago.
And then before we know it, we’re in “recovery.” ?☀️
And it’s a beautiful process. ✨
He loves your heart—yes, even yours—and He’s committed to healing and restoring your soul—yes, even mine, even yours.
Thank You, Father. ? You make it a joy and a relief to come to You! I never have to dread the work that You want to do in my heart.
You saved my soul…
And now You’re restoring my soul…
One day at a time…
One moment at a time…
…and with each step that I take with You, right by my side.
“I am convinced and confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will [continue to] perfect and complete it until the day of Christ Jesus [the time of His return].”—Philippians 1:6 AMP
