How easy is it to get all wrapped up in “tomorrow“?
How easy is it to become obsessed with questions like these:
“What does my future hold?
Where am I heading?
What’s going to happen to me?“
The truth is…
We can trust Him with our “tomorrow”…
but He wants us to pay attention to
what is on His heart —for “right now“…
He wants us to “look to see”
what “He’s asking of me“
“right now”…
the things He’s doing “right now”
that perhaps we cannot physically see…
Whether I understand the reasons for it or not.
And most of the time,
I won’t know “the reason” or “the why”
until later on when I’m looking back in amazement
of what God worked together and formed. 🤩
Remember, He says:
“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.”—Jeremiah 29:11
We can trust Him to lead us into this kind of “future”…
but we must let Him lead us…by aligning with what He has on His heart
for “right now.”
We won’t get to what He has in store, by aligning with “worry” and “fear.”
How many bad decisions do we make
how many steps do we take
out of “worry”
or out of “fear”?
But He reminds us of this for a reason:
“Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life?”—Matthew 6:25-27
We can trust Him to lead us into the future He has in store for us.
“plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.”
But we must take the steps that He asks us to take—moment by moment
as we trust Him along the way.
He’s working it out.
He’s done His part,
but He also asks us to do ours,
by aligning with His heart.
“The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps.”—Proverbs 16:9
Oh God, help us in this. You give us what we need to be able to take the steps You ask us to take. 🙏 Let nothing hold us back from what You have in store, especially our own selves. Thy will be done.
Thank You, Father. 💝
