Here I am, in this passage of scripture, yet again this morning…
“I am doing something brand new, something unheard of.
Even now it sprouts and grows and matures.
Don’t you perceive it?
I will make a way in the wilderness
and open up flowing streams in the desert.
20 Wild beasts, jackals, and owls will glorify me.
For I supply streams of water in the desert
and rivers in the wilderness
to satisfy the thirst of my people, my chosen ones,
21 so that you, whom I have shaped and formed for myself,
will proclaim my praise.”—Isaiah 43:19-21 TPT
I often find it hard to step away from “old, familiar ways”… do you?
“Oh, no! Something must be wrong! God, what’s going on? Something is different now…”
Sometimes it takes me a little bit before I’ll realize I’m in “something old”
and it’s time to step into “the new” that God has for me to step into.
For me, it’s often more like “breaking away”
from old ways,
old things,
old habits,
patterns of ways of doing things…
And sometimes it’s more like the Lord is gently “tugging” me
to keep me moving into the “new thing” He has created for me to step into.
But think about it…
He’s constantly creating these “new things” for us to move into.
He’s constantly creating these “roads in the wilderness.”
“I am doing a new thing…”
“I am doing something brand new…”
He’s constantly creating and providing these “rivers in the desert” for us.
A WAY for us, perfectly created,
and there for us to step into.
“Do not call to mind the former things; pay no attention to the things of old. Behold, I am about to do something new; even now it is coming. Do you not see it? Indeed, I will make a way in the wilderness and streams in the desert.” —Isaiah 43:18-19 Berean Study Bible
And if we dare to step out of “the old”
we’ll get to see
we’ll get to walk
the “road that He creates for us in the wilderness”
we’ll get to experience
the “rivers in the desert places.”
Father, help us not to get stuck in the “old things”… You say, “Do not call to mind the former things; pay no attention to the things of old.“—the kinds of things that can hinder us, and hold us back if we get stuck in them… Help us to step into these “brand new things” that You’ve created for us to have faith, and step into, with You.
I can see so many things in my life, so many situations lately, where You’ve taken me into something “new” and “different” and “unfamiliar” and I realize that I’ve left the “old”… I may have kicked and screamed a little bit, here and there, Lord, but I am beginning to be able to “see” and “behold” this “new thing” …come into view… this “new thing” that You are taking me into…
And with each “step by step” of faith…
…the view becomes clearer and clearer. 🏃🏻♀️☀️
Thank you, Father. 💝
