We like to see quick results, don’t we?
I mean, I do.
It’s one thing to keep at something that leads to quick, obvious results—when we can quickly see the effectiveness…
But it’s another thing—another kind of challenge—to obediently keep at something the Lord leads us to
when we cannot see the results yet…
when it doesn’t make earthly sense…
If it doesn’t look like “success” then it often can be perceived as “failure.”
But in these kinds of seasons, remember…
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.”—Proverbs 3:5-6
And the truth is, there are times when the Lord will ask us to do something, and we’ll never get to see the results of it on this side of heaven.
But in these kinds of times,
the Lord is teaching us to trust,
even when we cannot see or understand,
or know the “why”…
He’s building…
He’s building trust in us.
He’s building an obedient heart within us.
He’s teaching…
He’s teaching us to be obedient,
even when we do not understand.
Even when we cannot see the “fruit of our labor” yet…
It’s forming.
It’s growing.
He has a purpose and a reason for everything He asks us to do.
And what if…
God is doing His greatest, most beautiful kind of work, in and through us…
in the times that we cannot see any kind of “success”…
…when we cannot see the results…
and we trust and obey
and we keep on keeping on
walking in agreement with His will and His way.
“But we live by faith, not by what we see.”—2 Corinthians 5:7
“And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.”—Galatians 6:9
Thank You, Father. 💝
And it’s like I hear Him say…
“Just you wait and see…
what I’ve been doing…
The good thing I have been forming…
The good fruit that I have been growing…
…all along.”
