7.10.2021 – “…if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent?”

I was sitting here this morning, and as I wrote today’s date at the top of my journal, I immediately thought of, “Matthew 7:10” (which, I had no idea what verse it was off the top of my head)

It says,

“…or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent?”

This comes from the passage where Jesus is comparing and illustrating how God’s gracious acts, to those who ask of Him, express of His perfect, loving, nature.

It’s just who He is!

It’s His perfect nature. His perfect heart.

As a perfect Father, He takes care of the needs of His children who ask of Him.

“If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!”— Matthew 7:11

And then I felt this sink into my heart this morning:

Everything God does…

reflects and expresses His perfect nature

whether we can understand it

or not…

whether we realize it

or not…

He is perfect. He is GOOD.

And all that He chooses to do

all of His actions,

all of His responses to those who seek Him

come out of

who

He

is

…His perfect nature. 💝✨

He’s a GOOD Father.

It’s who He is.

“The Lord is good to all, and His tender mercies are over all His works.”—Psalm 145:9

“I would have lost heart, unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.”—Psalm 27:13

Thank You, Father. 💝 Even in the times that I do not understand what is being orchestrated by Your hands… when I don’t understand Your process…in the times when I cannot see the bigger picture of what You are doing. I know, that everything You do, everything You allow, everything You express… comes out of Your loving heart, and Your perfect will, and Your perfect nature.

“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”—Romans 8:28
