I opened up to the story of Balaam in Numbers this morning…
Honestly, I almost skipped over it,
but I felt drawn to backing up,
and zeroing in a bit.
I don’t think I’ve spent a lot of time zeroing in on this story much before.
Of course I’ve read about the donkey talking and all of that stuff…
But interestingly enough, the story of Balaam relates to some things that have been pressing on my heart, concerning what is happening in our world, and in many places, trying to seep into the church.
But it’s no surprise, because this tactic has been going on since the garden of Eden, with the tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil.
I don’t have a lot to write about just yet…
but what I do feel led to write about is this:
No matter how gifted,
no matter how much a person has going for them,
no matter how “spiritual”…
no matter how courageous,
no matter how “knowledgable”…
no matter how likable or popular a person may be…
Deception can lead a heart astray in the most subtle of ways.
We’ve got to get to the “heart” of the matter.
We’ve got to make sure there is nothing hidden or dormant in our hearts, that can cause us to be led astray from the simple truth of the gospel of Jesus Christ.
There is no end to the depth of revelation that can come from the Word of God. 📖✨
There is no “boredom” when it comes to the Word of God.
We will forever be marveling at the mystery, filled with wonder…
as we dig into
the pure and simple truth
of the Word of God.
Oh Father, draw us close to You, and let us not be deceived by the things that “look good” in this world…
We stand firm, because we stand, and we trust in Your Word!
“Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path.”—Psalm 119:105
Check us, Holy Spirit, search our hearts, and if there is any way within us that can cause us to be led astray, will You cleanse and refine and uproot and burn away… You do it because You love us, and because You have purpose for each one of our lives. You long to lead us into LIFE!
“Point out anything in me that offends you, and lead me along the path of everlasting life.”—Psalm 139:24
Thank You, Father. 💝
