I’ve been meditating on this passage of scripture this morning….
“So Jesus answered them by saying, “I assure you and most solemnly say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself [of His own accord], unless it is something He sees the Father doing; for whatever things the Father does, the Son [in His turn] also does in the same way.”—John 5:19 AMP
The Contemporary English Version reads this way…
“…He can do only what he sees the Father doing, and he does exactly what he sees the Father do.”
Jesus made it very clear, that He lived in agreement, and in perfect alignment with the will of His Heavenly Father.
He felt what it’s like living with “flesh” on the earth… and yet He only did what He SAW His Father doing…
This passage not only paints a picture that gives understanding of who He is, but it also teaches us—instructing us in the way we should go about “looking to see” what the Father has on His heart to do.
Oh Lord, we need help in walking in alignment with You! We need Your guidance and instruction and empowerment, to overcome our own souls, our own flesh. But God, You are so loving and kind, to take us through a process, and a journey with You. 💝
Heavenly Father, Your will is perfect. Your way is perfect—whether we have understanding of it or not. Whether we “like it” in the moment, or not. Your Word—Jesus Christ, is Your perfect Way, and it’s the only way to You—the Word in the Flesh, our Lord Jesus Christ. Thank You for making this way for us! Will You teach us, and help us, and lead us to do, “only what we see You doing,” only what is on Your heart, only what is Your will? We cannot reach this in our own strength, God. We CANNOT “transform” our own selves! But even though we are imperfect vessels, in Christ, You empower us and lead us in our moment by moments. Help us to learn to LIVE this way… this way of looking to see what YOU are doing, that we may “desire” what You desire to bring forth through us, as Your people. Help us to align ourselves with Your will and Your way, by the leading, and the guidance, and the empowerment of Your Holy Spirit. In the name of Jesus, Amen.
