8.23.2021 – The Rainbow: An Invitation to Know Him and to Behold His Glory

“…The heavens are telling of the glory of God; and the expanse [of heaven] is declaring the work of His hands.” —Psalm 19:1 AMP

“And God said, “This is the sign of the covenant that I make between me and you and every living creature that is with you, for all future generations: I have set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be a sign of the covenant between me and the earth.“—Genesis 9:12-13

Like the appearance of the bow that is in the cloud on the day of rain, so was the appearance of the brightness all around. Such was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the Lord. And when I saw it, I fell on my face, and I heard the voice of one speaking.”—Ezekiel 1:28

“And he who sat there had the appearance of jasper and carnelian, and around the throne was a rainbow that had the appearance of an emerald.“—Revelation 4:3

There is something about the rainbow…

It draws me in.

It draws me deeper into

There is something about this “expression” that comes straight from the heart of God.

It’s more than just a covenant

it’s a “picture” and an “invitation”

for us to dig into

who

God

is.

It is an invitation to know Him more, to know Him deeper.

“The rainbow is the eternal color wheel.”—John Paul Jackson

I’ve been taking a course by John Paul Jackson, and within this course, there is a class on Spectrums of Light—it’s a deeper dive into light and color.

Each of these 7 eternal colors within the rainbow, represent the 7 Spirits of God, all of which give us a glimpse into the His multifaceted, divine nature. 🌈 ✨☀️

“The rainbow is indicative of God’s 7 Spirits.”—John Paul Jackson

His attributes

Is that not incredible? That He would paint a picture of this for us to behold within creation, and that He would write it for us so clearly in His Word?

If we dig into the biblical meaning and representation of each eternal color within the rainbow,

we’ve actually begun digging into a glimpse, an attribute

of who He is—the beauty of His divine nature.

Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo, Violet…. they all come from pure, white light.

The rainbow comes from purity.

The 7 Spirits of God are…

“And the Spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him, the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and might, the Spirit of knowledge and the fear of the Lord.”—Isaiah 11:2

Each of the 7 Spirits of God have a color, they come from the uncreated light—God is LIGHT and HE is eternal, uncreated!

“This is the message we have heard from Him and announce to you, that God is Light, and in Him there is no darkness at all.”—1 John 1:5

If God is LIGHT, and He spoke, “let there be light”… He was light BEFORE He spoke for there to be created light!

“And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. And God saw that the light was good, and He separated the light from the darkness.…”—Genesis 1:3

I love this description of the rainbow from my course…

“From He who is eternal, comes an eternal covenant, made of eternal light.”—John Paul Jackson

WOW.

Do we really REALIZE the representation of what we are actually beholding when we witness the beauty of a rainbow?

It goes deeper than we think.

It’s more of a blessing than we realize.

And it’s more of an invitation than we can even imagine…

“For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities – his eternal power and divine nature – have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.”—Romans 1:20

God has designed HIS glory into creation, that through His Word, and through His creation, we may see and experience, and encounter Him, that we may come to know

who

He

is.

His very nature!

He wants us to know Him.

It is His desire for His heart to be known, to be seen, to be heard, to be understood, to be experienced…by us, and to be experienced in this dark world, THROUGH us, His “Children of Light.

The ones He loves and cherishes beyond what we can imagine!

“How many are your works, Lord! In wisdom you made them all; the earth is full of your creatures. There is the sea, vast and spacious, teeming with creatures beyond number – living things both large and small.”—Psalm 104:24-25

Do I really understand and grasp all of this? I do not. I know I am only scratching the surface, but there is a deep, deep desire within me, to keep digging. 💖 🌈 💡

As a side note,

…have you ever caught a glimpse of the “rainbows” that are hidden within the wings of hummingbirds, or within some of the other animals who have wings?

Could it be

that this is something that God has so intentionally “woven” into His creation… 🌈☀️

Thank You, Father. 💝🌈 I love who You are. And I want to keep learning more about You, I want to know You more, and more. Thank You for making a way, in Christ.
