8.27.2021 – The Beauty of Restoration

We live in a house that was originally built back in the 1920s, I believe.

It’s been modified multiple times over the years.

In the last phase of the renovations the previous owners gave it more of a “contemporary” makeover. We were told there were no hardwoods under the carpet, but lo and behold, we were surprised at the discovery of hardwoods underneath!

….We found them… but… there was quite a bit of damage to the originals all throughout the house, so we have been in a process of restoring the floors one room at a time (in addition to all kinds of other renovations we are doing to the house). And…. we’ve been mostly learning as we go. 😅

Here are some pictures of my dining room—my most favorite room in our house.

We have the most beautiful sunrises, the most gorgeous morning light fills this room.

It’s where I sit in the mornings— my “writing room”… ✍️

It’s a process! Yesterday we got the linseed oil and stain down.

We wanted to save as much of the original floors as we could, and while they aren’t perfect,

…it feels good to see something being restored. 💖✨

“He restores my soul.”—Psalm 23:3

“I have swept away your offenses like a cloud, your sins like the morning mist. Return to me, for I have redeemed you.”—Isaiah 44:22

    1. Thank you so much! I see them to be a hidden “treasure”… takes a little effort to dig them up and get them all polished up nice, but it’s worth it! 🙂 – Heather
