Have you ever tried holding your breath for as long as you can…
…do you know that “uncomfortable/panicky” feeling
when you think you can’t hold your breath any longer?
But really…
you know,
that your body could stand to hold a little longer
and be okay.
It’s the place of “being uncomfortable”…
I have to admit,
I want to escape that place
as quickly as I can.
How about you?
What about when you’re in conversation with someone…
and you hit a moment or two of that awkward, uncomfortable silence?
It can be easy to want to jump in with something—anything—to fill that silent, uncomfortable space.
But what if
there is a valuable lesson that can be gained
from being willing
to remain
within that place?
That place of being uncomfortable.
God teaches us just as much
within seasons of uncomfortable “silence”
as He does in seasons that He speaks to us the quickest and the loudest.
Am I willing
to “be still”…
that I might learn
what He wants me to learn,
even in this kind of place?
He’s always just right there, and He’s always faithful to lead, and He’s always trustworthy.
Even when we find ourselves in the place
of the greatest kind of “uncomfortable”…
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.”—Proverbs 3:5-6
Thank You, Father. 💝
